Next year will probably be Kobe's final year. They won't really do anything next year. Might win 40 or so games, but I don't really see them doing much.

The real test comes the year after next, when they'll have cap space (if Kobe retires). They'll have a decent core to build around, plus the cache of history and a big city.

If I were a free agent, why would I want to sign on to a team that is rebuilding but also has Kobe yelling at me? I would much rather sign a 3 year deal elsewhere and see if things pan out in LA, and then re-consider them the next time I am a free agent.
