Leverage with who? The Bulls? They're done with him.other teams... Lakers have money, lots of it, can spend whatever they want on coaches

what better way to up your value and create a sense of urgency then by having a rumor out there that says one of the big spenders is interested in you

Give Thibs the roster that LA had this past season, and he wouldn't have done any better. Nor would have Phil, either.

Scott has actually been a very good coach when he had some semblance of talent.

Scott did a good job this season of keeping the guys playing hard... that was the one thing, they may not have been a good team but they never stopped playing hard for him.. during exit interviews they all had nothing but good things to say about scott and how much they had learned from him

i also think scott grew as a coach...

Theres no point hiring a new coach now. They Lakers arent gonna matter until Kobe is gone, and knowing how desperate the lakers are to appease the stanbase, theyll probably extend him before the start of next season.

I'm surprised they'd give up on Byron this quickly. There is no doubt that Thibs is a better coach but do the Lakers want to be paying 2 coaches?

Fvck byron scott and his kobe dick-sucking. They only hired him because he's kobe's personal bitch, and will kiss his ass all day everyday

Byron was a good tank commander, but I don't think he's going anywhere..
See what he does with a bit of talent first..

Thibs would destroy our roster:lol there is zero chance he is headed to LA..

All this hate for Scott is ridiculous. What was he supposed to accomplish with this D League roster especially after Kobe got hurt?

As for Thibs, no thank you. I really don't want 38 year old Kobe playing 45 minutes a game.

Scott can't coach this team...he'd be a good assistant tho a good players coach if you will...not worth waiting another year to get rid of him imo.

Thibs is the kind of coach that has what it takes to win a ch'ship no doubt.

look at what he did to Noah, Deng, Rose, Butler, Taj, etc

these guys were nothing befor thibs came along and installed a system.

bring in a good offensive coordinator a la Gentry and we're set.

He's somewhat. His teams show grit, grind and defense...but not a working offense.

Hire him as an assistant coach. He's a very good defensive coach, but a terrible offensive coach.

Mike Brown > than him.

Scott was doghousing the hell out of his players (even the veterans). There seems to be absolutely no chemistry whatsoever with this team, and a lot of it is the coach clashing with his players. I used to like Scott a lot when he was coaching CP3, but he has been awful these past few years coaching Cleveland and now LA.

Scott was doghousing the hell out of his players no he wasn't.. stop talking about stuff you have no clue about

When it became clear the Lakers were not going anywhere this season the front office and coaching staff decided it would be better to develop talent first over getting guys who aren't even going to be on the roster next year playing time...

this was reported and discussed by the media more than once

Lakers are doing this on purpose to try and get Kobe to retire early.

The faster his knees go, the better.

I don't get where this myth of Thibs running his players to the ground with mpg comes from.

None of his players during his time in Chicago played 40mpg or more whereas all these legends that had long and healthy primes/careers: MJ, Pippen, Kobe, Shaq, Lebron, Hakeem, Iverson, Payton, KG, Duncan, Malone, Kareem, West, Wilt.... the list goes on forever.

The highest mpg Rose ever played in a season was 37.4. Lebron averages 39.3 mpg for his CAREER.

Sucks for him but would be good for the team.

If he can drill good defensive habits into Okafor(most likely), Randle, and Clarkson then we'll be golden going forward.

They're young, they can handle the minutes. Almost all the greats have played over 40mpg and Thibs has never actually played a player 40mpg or more during a season.

Most importantly, drill good defensive habits into our young core. Clarkson, Randle, and Okafor all aren't known for having good defense. I think if we land Thibs, it will improve our team and our teams' future more than adding another piece would.

No, I'd rather have Mike Brown than Byron Scott. However, I think I'd rather have Byron Scott than D'antoni.

D'antoni misused Pau to the point of Pau wanting to leave despite loving it here in LA. LA was willing to give Pau a no trade clause, but he just wanted to be guaranteed that he would be used correctly and not have to change his game. Why would you turn one of the best post players in the league into a much less effective Dirk?

Lakers had a behind the scenes agreement with Scott for sure: He would make sure we tank properly (One thing MDA didn't make) and the Lakers would keep him next season.

Thibs is a great coach but right now I don't think the Lakers are the place for him, Lakers will be all about developing the young guys this year and Thibs may want to go to a place where he can contend.

and just as i thought, mitch already shot down these rumors. in fact, he called scott to let him know his job is safe.I heard that on Fox sports radio this morning, he seemed bit pissed off :lol

Both Shelbourne and Ireland said they spoke to people besides mitch (including john black) in the lakers and 4 separate folks in the lakers org said it was a bunch of crap too

So just as i said earlier this is somebody trying to use the lakers as leverage, most likely somebody in thibs camp
