son i've probably been a fan since before you were born, there ain't nothing left but laughing at the jimmy dolan circus: spree->houston->starbury->curry->lee->melo->hardaway jr.

Jackson should've ditched Melo last offseason and gone full re-build. He's a bad luck charm.

What were you trading JR Smith for? Cleveland would only take him if we threw in Shumpert. You can't complain we traded him for nothing, because no one was taking his $8M a year AND throwing in something to pay for the privlege.

People keep saying that, teams don't walk up and take expensive problematic assets for nothing. Unless OP didn't want the extra $8M in cap room next year.

how about first looking for a team that had trade assets and was in a dire need for spacing. Like chicago, grizzlies, pelicans, phonix, raptors or bucks.

These are all teams who had the assets and the need to really take a serious look at jr, it's not like he was a scrub, just misused.

Shit, for 8m AND schumpert it would've been better to just keep him till the summer and let him chuck like nuts. Trade him when his stock would be at least decent, to a dumbass GM like khan or that indian cuck. We got zero out of it, and it's not like NY don't have money to spend.

JR's stock was at an all time low. I can show you posts by same people who call JR as great now shitting on him during the trade and knicks fans being happy that cancer is off the team.
People kept questioning shumpert's health and desire. you could have gotten something better for shumpert but not for JR. you had to undersell shumpert to get rid of JR.

Then we wouldn't have had cap space. And Shump is a free agent. It's easy to say "We should have got more", it would have been near impossible to get more.

Somehow, coming off the tank and not playing with Lebron (we'd have a worse draft pick too, would that be ok?) JR Smith would have so much value someone would not only take his salary but pay us to do it.

That's not realistic.

Except for Milwaukee none of those teams would have taken on his salary for next year. And Toronto and Milwaukee didn't need $8M swingmen coming off the bench.

It's easy to complain, but the only way to dump his salary was to throw in an asset. I want his salary gone. You can't say you want it gone AND you want something in return, that's not possible.

People always want these magical ****ing trades where there team benefits huge and other team loses.

Knicks (inadvertently because they suck) tank for a Top 3 pick in a 3 player draft.

Get the 4th pick.

The New York Knickerbockers! :lol :facepalm

Injuries made an undermanned team into a complete no win situation. The jr trade was terrible value but saved huge money and helped insure getting a top 5 pick. That pick will become a very good player.

The Knicks top 5 players were hurt part or all of the season. How many teams could be successfull with that? Calderon played hurt the whole season and had his worst season of his career. So bad that he was impossible to move. There is almost no doubt that he has some type of bounce back. Carmelo had his most injury filled and worst season of his career. He will bounce back huge. Bargnani was hurt almost the whole season. He will come back on a good deal and fits perfect with Carmelo.

They'll be able to have half a dozen or so guys experianced in the triangle and pick up the pick and another couple guys that will raise the talent level of the rotation by quite a bit.

Damn. I imagine you'll have a pistol in your mouth should Isiah come back.

I start grading Jax's moves come June 25th. I'm not gonna sit here and moan about how lousy this franchise has been run... I've got half of ISH to do that for me. Take a deep breath and try to keep it together, man.

I'm excited about this team's future, whatever happens. It's only ENTERTAINMENT, after all is said and done.

Smith's value was at an all time low for sure. He just didn't want to play for NY anymore.

He has 2 yrs at $8M each, problem with his knee, drug suspension, and he was partying too hard (which he admitted post trade). This thought that someone would take his contract AND send us an asset is comical.

I like JR, i've always defended him against what was overkill (like people acting like he commited a crime by untying shoelaces). But he didn't have trade value, that's silly.

But they have a "super star" and the "best scorer in the NBA" in Carmelo so the season was a success.
