There is no sense in dismissing records for the following reasons:

1) Someone has made the efforts to record the numbers (statisticians at the time) and we shall respect the pioneers who made the game looks what is today with all the info/stats surrounding every game nowadays.
2) Records are indicative for who were the best athletes at the time of their recording.
3) a lot more but don't have the time ...

How anyone that knows anything at all about basketball can watch the NBA today and call any other era a weak era is beyond me.
