It's totally true. And I am not even hating on Thompson. He has by far more impact on the game than Irving/Love. He buttf.ucked the Bulls frontcourt into another dimension. Godly offensive rebounder, ace on defense (especially picking up guards on switches), durable, etc.

But that's not what it means.

The words 'second' and 'option' clearly mean the second option you give the ball to on offense. All it is is second offensive option without the word offensive in there. And really, best and most impactful aren't synonyms. Regardless, there are players on the team taking more shots than TT, so he's flat out not the second option. No one considered Rodman the second option of his championship teams just because he impacted the game so much with his rebounding, which is exactly what TT is doing right now.
