If he was playing now? What's he worth?

He's always been one of my favorites. Gotta love a guy who simply outworks everyone.

If Draymond Green gets the max then maybe he would have as well but part of what kept Rodman from maximizing his contracts was the whole league viewed him as a pain in the ass. That would still be the case if he played today. In his prime he was traded for Will Perdue, which should give you an idea of how much his extra issues hurt his value.

Max contract.

Best defender and rebounder in the nba?

Especially in todays soft league. He averaged 16-17 over hakeem/shaq, ewing, robinson etc...

In todays league he might reach 20 a night

Max or near Max. Very comparative to what Ben Wallace received after his stint with the Pistons.

You don't overpay for a rebounding machine no matter how good he is

there's only so many rebounds a game it's not like he's manufacturing rebounds out of thin air... maybe he gets your team 5 more rebounds per game than they would without him but that's not worth paying a guy a max contract... for max money you find a big who can rebound AND score

Max if he could stay in the league and refs let him do the same antics.

Bad logic cuz u could already have a star and plug him in as the second max. 15 to 18 rebs plus with the shifting d now he may do more. Lock down d, great passer really. He's def max. Imagine him next to any star player... Imagine him and curry. Would be stupid.

Rebounding and defense is just as important as volume scoring on 45% and bricking the highest amount of clutch shots in history.

Probably more important.

Personally I think you can't pay enough for good Rebounder's.

Every rebound is denying the opposing team a second chance.

Umm, it's not just rebounding, it's his D also. To me, he is the greatest rebounder ever and the most versatile defender ever. That is huge for any team he plays on. If I was a GM, I pay him the max without hesitation. He does things that don't always show up on the stat sheet. He was also the ultimate hustle guy. There's a reason why the guy has 5 rings. He is a winner.

don't get me wrong.. i like rodman, love how he played the game, just saying why you don't pay guys like him max money

I take Rodman on my team any day. There is not one team in the history of the game that would not greatly benefit from what he brings to the table every night. He can have 0 points and still dominate a game. The rebounding, the versatile D and hustle. Every teams needs a guy like that. One of my favorite all time players because he gave you everything he had on every night.

as for the defense those guys never get paid

history shows us that hustle guys, defensive specialists and rebound machines don't get the money because as nice as it is to have one guy be able to do that they're not irreplaceable in the long run, offensive players will always command the money from a franchise because even with the best defense and the best rebounding machine if you don't put the ball in the hole you don't win...

I see what you're saying but let's not talk about Rodman like he's your run of the mill "specialist." There are levels to greatness. Again, probably the greatest rebounder ever and imo, the most versatile defender ever. This isn't an unathletic plodder like Reggie Evans giving you 9 reb per game. Rodman was also an all time great athlete. Worthy called him the greatest athlete he played against. The value of being able to guard 1-5 is huge. The versatility he gives your D can't be underestimated. It makes everyone else's job easier.

But you are right in that historically, guys like him don't make max money. And I can see why. Because he is usually the 3rd best player on a championship winning team. But personally, I love the guy. He's a legend in my eyes.
