Here is the deal...

Lets say I win the powerball this summer. I have 600 million. I approach you with an offer to potentially make you a millionaire...or put you in debt to me.

You can choose any player currently in the NBA...he is 100% healthy...and playing for his current roster...also 100% healthy. The entire current NBA is at the top of their games health wise here.

I make him an offer he agrees to...I give him one million dollars in tax free cash to score 60 points in a game....and you also get a million. You dont split it. Im offering two million...he gets one...you get one. But he must drop 60....under 3 conditions....

Condition 1: He cant tell anyone what hes doing. No teammates can help him out knowingly...the coach doesnt know. If he so much as suggests to anyone that he has to score a lot tonight you both forefit. Lets assume I have a bodymic like ABC uses on him and hes given me his word not to tell anyone. You cant either. You sit in a suite in the arena and watch...only you, me, and the player knows its a bet and he wont break his word.

Condition 2:

He has to score 60 points for you to make any money. Every point hes short of 60....you have to pay me 1000 dollars....and he pays me 10,000. Meaning if he has 55 points...you owe me 5K and he owes me 50K. If you dont have the cash you sign over the rights to 20% of your pay until I get what you owe. May take years....but I get it. The most you could owe me due to condition 2 is 60 thousand dollars if hes held scoreless...he would owe me $600,000.

Condition 3:

He must shoot 50% for you to make the full million. You dont lose money for his shooting percentage...if he shoots under 50% it just reduces your take. For every percentage point under 50 he shoots you get shorted 100K of the million. So say he has 60 points on 38% shooting...you get nothing. He burned up your profits by being 12% under .500. You dont owe me anything....but you dont get anything either. If he has 64 points on 49%...you get 900,000...having lost 100K to his 1% under 50.
You get no extra for him shooting above 50% or having over 60 points. Everything rounded off. So 17/35 shooting would be 49%(48.5 rounded up...im not gonna screw you on the rounding). No Ft maximum. He can go 60/62 from the line and ill give you the money if he shot 1/2 from the field. I will not try to get over on you.

You can choose one of 5 teams to play in an otherwise meaningless game in December...no playoff race...just a normal Tuesday night game not even on national TV...

All of these teams bring back their current free agents...so its the same teams....with the same coaches. Changes may be made in reality...but we are assuming they have their current coach:

A 100% healthy Atlanta Hawks

A 100% healthy Memphis Grizzlies

A 100% healthy Golden State Warriors

A 100% healthy Chicago Bulls

A 100% healthy Indiana Pacers

Your guy is on the road in one of the above cities.

Nobody is in on it. The conditions are as I explained...no...you dont get to use TS% or eFG%. The rules are what they are.

Accept them or walk away.

And lets assume I get you to sign a contract of some sort so you cant easily back out. It will be for something you cant prove is related to illegal gambling. I'll use my million dollar lawyers to keep you tied up in court for life before ill let you walk away without paying me. I'll spend 10 million to get your 60 thousand if it comes to that. But it wont...lets keep out of the discussion on what id do to get the money. i'll get it. Leave it at that. Your word is your word...so is mine.

Worst case...you owe me 60K. Best case...I give you a million in cash tax free(lets say ill pay you whatever extra is needed to allow you to pay taxes and clear a million total).

Do you take me up on my offer? And if so....who do you pick to play for you...and what opponent do you choose?

And for the slightly more dedicated basketball junkie who likes to go a little deeper....

Lets go the time machine route.

Pick any player/team of all time under the following condition:

They come to 2015 on the team they played on...from the season you pick.

You take 1991 Jordan...you get the 91 Bulls against the opponent of your choosing one night only alternate universe style. Same rules apply. If you take 1978 Pistol Pete...he plays modern rules with his 78 Jazz teammates...so hes got a 3 point line. 74 Kareem has the modern rules to contend with. 06 Kobe has Kwame and the gang. Same players/teams....in todays setting.

Who would you pick all time to fight for your million?

'62 Wilt

A bit of related trivia...yes..people have dropped 60 on less than 50% shooting...Iverson once, Wilt a few times, Baylor twice, Gervin once, and Joe Fulks once. So that happens....and most of them were just natural high scoring games and not someone pushing it for the sake of scoring.... Gervins was though. He had 63 going for the scoring title. He dropped 63 on 23/49 shooting and sat out the 4th. Yes...Gervin took 49 shots in 3 quarters.

I suppose this would come down to choosing not just someone who can score...but someone on a team that wouldnt hold him back...with a coach who wouldnt pull him....

You need a guy with the ultimate green light who could really get after it scoring wise without anyone yanking him or teammates getting upset....

There's obviously only one choice to this proposal.

100% healthy Kyrie Irving with 100% healthy Cavs playing the Hawks.

This year Kyrie Irving actually scored 57 points at 62%.

LeBron would keep feeding him and play unselfish. That's why Kyrie is the only choice.

Durant would be hampered by Westbrook ball hogging and wouldn't get to 60.

I'm not placing my faith on Curry jacking threes at 50% trying to hit 60 points.

Westbrook could score 60 and Durant would let him. However, he wouldn't score it at 50%. He could probably do it at 33-40%.

Harden is about the same as Westbrook. He could hit 60 but not at 50%.

100% healthy Wade probably would be my second choice. His teammates would happily feed him the ball. However, Kyrie still gets the nod for me versus 100% healthy Wade.

That's about it.

Oh and 100% healthy Kobe probably could hit 60, however not at 50%.

Wilt is a guy to consider for the all time version for 2 reasons....

His coach would not take him out...no matter what....and his teammates would happily watch him take 60 shots if thats what it took.

Hes maybe the only guy ever...you KNOW...will play every second...with a license to statpad because of a coaching directive to score 50+ every night.

At that point it becomes...do you think he could do it today on command...with way less posessions and different rules.

AMC30 and have him just launch 3's off picks. He would have to be on but not by much, his career and season 3 point percentage is 44%. So he would just have to be warm, not even blazing hot.

You should add the stipulation that they have to win the game. There's a lot of guys that could go score 60 without giving a shit about the outcome.

Having said that I'd probably choose Wilt. Any of the guards would need to be clicking well to get 60 on 50% in a given night. I think Wilt from 62 could do it conducively to the team without having to jack too many shots.

Throw him against the Hawks and he'd do it.

Whoever you take, I think you have to take Atlanta on the road. Memphis, Chicago and Indiana will slow the game too much and Golden State is much better defensively.

You might be able to take like 86-89 Jordan. Good enough to get 60 but without the team support. Not sure if centers are viable, apart from a guy like Wilt or Shaq. 03 Tmac could do it also.

fully healthy kobe has a fully healthy achilles

fully healthy kobe doesnt have broken knees/legs/shoulders

and if kobe has to go out and get 60 he will.

my 2nd pick would be durant

Didn't shaq drop 60 on his birthday because he felt like it? His free throw shooting won't effect fg% either so yeah I'm taking him.

Edit: I'm going against the Hawks. Can you imagine what shaq is doing against them. No offence to horford but shaq is going to backdown dunk on him Scott pollard style at least 6 times

The guy who scored 80+ without his team intentionally fouling so he could get the ball back
