Scott Skiles has emerged as the strong frontrunner to become head coach of the Orlando Magic, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Magic general manager Rob Hennigan has discussed the opening with several possible candidates, but Skiles has clearly separated himself in the process, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Who is Scott Skiles?
Magic fans, YOU tell US!

You don't know who Skiles is..?
Anyways he is my least favorite candidate by far, but I'm pretty sure Orlando is just building leverage for Thibs.
Orlando had interest in discussing its opening with Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau, but the Magic haven’t wanted to offer draft compensation for the chance to acquire him, league sources said. Chicago management has been waiting for a team to offer a draft pick to hire Thibodeau, but so far that hasn’t happened. The Bulls seem determined to hold on to Thibodeau until the league’s job vacancies fill, and a firing in Chicago would likely leave him out of coaching next season.
Hennigan is calling Chicago's bluff. Chicago must be doing some ridiculous shit like #5 for Thibs which is a hell no for Orlando. If Pelicans get JVG and Orlando is the only open spot Chicago has no leverage and they will be stuck paying Thibs's remainder on the contract if they fire him. Go get 'em Hennigan

Building 7 was the third skyscraper to be reduced to rubble on September 11, 2001. According to the government, fires, primarily, leveled this building, but fires have never before or since destroyed a steel skyscraper.
The team that investigated the collapse were kept away from the crime scene. By the time they published their inconclusive report in May, 2002, the evidence had been destroyed.
Why did the government rapidly recycle the steel from the largest and most mysterious engineering failure in world history, and why has the media remained silent?

Didn't he used to coach Jason Kidd, then became his assistant in Brooklyn?
Nevermind, that was Lawrence Frank.

I'd rather Magic get JVG, but unlikely given the SVG situation with the Magic

I remember when Scottie was on the Magic and they were playing at Home, he'd wear his shorts so short and they were white so it looked like he was playing in underwear.

You guys are confusing Scott Brooks with Scott Skiles. Skiles never was a HC, just an assistant and ran PG clinics in the Philippines

He's a decent coach, but to me mediorce, but I guess the Magic's GM has an outline and Skiles fits it. Mostly on the defensive end...
Skiles, 51, holds a 443-433 record (18-24 in the playoffs) in 13 seasons coaching the Suns, Bulls and Bucks. The coach is known for his workmanlike approach and his ability to help turn teams around. He took Chicago from 19 wins in 2004 to 47 in 2005, his first two seasons there. After he took over Milwaukee, the team leapt from 34 wins to 46 from 2009 to 2010.

I don't think Thibs is the right coach either. Thibs to me personally is a different version of Mike Brown. Both are great defensive coaches, but seemingly don't have an idea what to do on offense. The main thing I dislike about Thibs is he runs his players into the ground with heavy minutes. Luol Deng is a prime example.
It just feels like he's not a coach to get a team to that ultimate level.

Gordon would still be one of the youngest in this years draft but he busted in a season where he missed most of the games with an injury?
Anyway how do people not know skiles? He's not my first pick but I'd like him more than brooks

hennigan keeps saying he is picking up players that want to work hard and with a defensive focus so i think thibs fits that.
If it's true the bulls want a first rounder for the thibs then I'd pass on that. Will be interesting if we keep harris as skiles kept him on the bench in Milwaukee and they are rumored to hate each other

I'm confused how people didn't know he was a HC either...he pretty much was the HC of one team or another from 2000-2013. He's a good coach for a young team like the Magic.

Hes not terrible just isn't exciting. He has a record of taking young teams to play offs and losing there which is a step up but not a jump up

The magic don't need an "exciting coach" right now...they need one who is good with young guys and can build a team up. In general, I think Skiles is best suited as an important assistant coach though. (like Alvin Gentry)

By exciting i don't mean play wise, i just mean a big buzz type name. I think skiles is a solid coach but he nothing to be excited about potentially signing i mean

They are rumoured to want a future first, we were reported to be offering two seconds. I imagine it would have been a top 5 protected next year or some thing but even that's too much for us imo
