Quick list I compiled. I thought the results were quite interesting; the paint a good picture of the best two-way players with supreme longevity.
Just to note, the All-NBA Third Team was introduced in 1988-89; the All-Defensive Team wasn't introduced until the 1968-69 season.
Here are all the players with 15 or more selections (let me know if I missed any).
1.) Tim Duncan - 30 (15 All-NBA, 15 All-Defense)
2.) Kobe Bryant - 27 (15 All-NBA, 12 All-Defense)
3.) Kareem Abdul-Jabbar - 26 (15 All-NBA, 11 All-Defense)
4.) Kevin Garnett - 21 (9 All-NBA, 12 All-Defense)
4.) Hakeem Olajuwon - 21 (12 All-NBA, 9 All-Defense)
6.) Michael Jordan - 20 (11 All-NBA, 9 All-Defense)
7.) John Havlicek - 19 (11 All-NBA, 8 All-Defense)
8.) David Robinson - 18 (10 All-NBA, 8 All-Defense)
8.) Gary Payton - 18 (9 All-NBA, 9 All-Defense)
8.) Karl Malone - 18 (14 All-NBA, 4 All-Defense)
11.) Jerry West - 17 (12 All-NBA, 5 All-Defense)
11.) LeBron James - 17 (11 All-NBA, 6 All-Defense)
11.) Scottie Pippen - 17 (7 All-NBA, All-Defense)

15.) Jason Kidd (6 All-NBA, 9 All-Defense)
15.) John Stockton - 16 (11 All-NBA, 5 All-Defense)
Re-added Michael Jordan and added John Havlicek, Scottie Pippen and Jason.

Fact. I knew Tim Duncan would lead this list just by who made the thread. Also, that Kobe is 2nd goes against what OP is even saying...Kobe isn't close to one of the best two way players ever because his defense was rarely consistent. He was thrown on half of those all defensive teams because the coaches just don't care.

LOL love how you did the point values so it perfectly puts Duncan on top by 1 point. Nice job op, agendas are usually way more obvious.

Duncan is tied for the most All NBA selections, and leads all-defense selections by 3. There aren't many ways he could have distributed the points to where Duncan wouldn't end up on top. He pretty much did it exactly how Achilleas said to do it. Unless you're just trolling.. :lol

Jordan did it in an era with less spacing to get into all-nba teams though

Kobe tied for most and he's been out with an injury the last two seasons.
OP clearly has some bullshit agenda to generate some stupid point system.
how about 3 pts for all-nba 1st, 2 for 2nd and 1 for 3rd
Kareem 40
Kobe 39
Malone 38
Duncan 38
West 34
Bob Cousy 34
Shaq 32
MJ 32
Bran 31

Hakeem 27

Dude, I stated in the OP multiple times that this includes both sets of All-NBA Teams (All-NBA and All-Defense).
The point system was suggested by another user and also includes both All-NBA Teams (All-NBA and All-Defense):
3 pts for All-NBA 1st Team, 2 pts for All-NBA 2nd Team, 1 pt for All-NBA 3rd Team; 2 pts for All-Defensive 1st Team, 1 pt for All-Defensive 2nd Team.
How else could I have done it? I included both sets of All-NBA Teams (All-NBA and All-Defense, in-case you're still confused) because I couldn't find that data anywhere, whereas the most All-NBA Teams (just All-NBA) or most All-Defensive Teams (just All-Defense) can be found easily. :confusedshrug:

Like Alamo said, how could I have done it differently? You want 10 points for All-NBA 1st Team, 5 for 2nd, and 1 for 3rd or something? :facepalm
Fine, let's give 3 pts for All-Defensive 1st Team and 2 pts for All-Defensive 2nd Team.
Kobe comes out with 72 points.
Duncan comes out with 76 points.
