Don't be surprised if Lakers or somebody else drops one of those toxic contracts on the Bulls to match

why bother to talk when his boss definitely gonna match any offer?
now his teams gonna think he's an a$$ole who wanna leave.

he hates the bulls

Then he better not sign any sheets with other teams cause the Bulls will match and he's screwed.. Ala Eric Gordon

Then again the Bulls are cheap bastards so who knows.. Isn't there a max amount he can make though? And 4 year deal??:confusedshrug:

The bulls are offering him the max and he's getting it. There is nothing toxic that the Lakers can do,

That said, doesnt mean he doesnt want to be a laker. I just dont see it hapening.

Offer him the max, add a no trade, back load the contract so the big money comes up front. An un-moveable contract, un-tradeable contract

now match it

Dude will fill the Ariza/MWP role nicely. But that's it.

Alot of players will be signing 1 year deals this year cause of the salary cap spike.

Butler may very well be one of them.

these only work for non-max players. there is no contract the lakers would offer him that the bulls dont match. The only way he can get his own way is if he pulls a monroe and refuses any offer, signs the 1 yr tender and signs next off-season as a Unrestricted FA.

Sign a short term contract back with the Bulls and we'll pick you up next offseason as an unrestricted on the way to Durant's house.

So the lakers have enough space to give love, rondo, and butler the max....okay buddy. First understand how the salary cap works then come back here

Source is unreliable, Bulls will match anything. If Butler wants to go to LA or anywhere but Chicago he needs to get the offer sheet or sign a contract with a one year opt out with the Bulls. There's no chance this year.

Butler may very well be one of them.

This is the only way that Butler could realistically come to LA, though he is an RFA, so I guess he could also just decline to accept any offered contracts and play the last year on his original contract. It's risky because of injuries, but the cap is set to jump dramatically so he could take the chance to get paid by LA next summer.

If the Lakers or any other team offer a max contract, no matter how "toxic" it is, Chicago will match since Butler is literally the only asset they have.

Offer him the max, add a no trade, back load the contract so the big money comes up front. An un-moveable contract, un-tradeable contract

now match it

Now you're just making things up. A Max contract is a max contract you can't **** around with it and decide when they get the money a max contract is set in stone. And Butler doesn't qualify for a no trade clause. The only way the lakers get him is if he signs the qualifying offer the Bulls to be an unrestricted free agent next year. Otherwise the Bulls will match everything. Keep dreaming.

He may not be the fastest or most explosive, but don't be surprised if he ends up being the best player from this draft.

It's not like chicago is winning anything anytime soon

Lakers chasin' wing players can mean one thing...they're drafting Okafor on draft day.

Shoddy source. He was on ESPN the other day, and said he wanted to stay a Bull.

Would be interesting if LA got Monroe and Butler though.

actually yes you can

you might want to be the one who goes and learns something about the cap

the Lakers are under the cap they can do all sorts of fun things with the contract they offer butler

see Houston's offer to Lin that took him away from the Knicks

The principal terms of an offer sheet consist of the following. Any other terms of an offer are not considered to be principal terms, and the player's original team is not required to match:

The number of years, including option years

The base salary

The amount of any signing bonus or deferred compensation, including the payment schedule

Certain bonuses -- those considered to be "likely" for both teams and those based on generally recognized league honors6

Any allowable amendments such as guarantees, options and trade bonuses

the bolded is about how the contract is paid, things like front or backloading a contract so the player gets more at the start of the contract or a big ballon payment at the end

the second bolded is things like no trade clauses or trade compensation payments that would make the contract hard to move
