Without a ****ing doubt

Pick any of Lebron or Durant's seasons from the last 3 years and they smoke Curry

This year feels like the 2011 MVP drop in quality

Hopefully Kevin comes back healthy next year to reclaim his rightful throne

I think if Kerr didn't sit out Curry in the 4th quarter. Curry is capable of averaging 27 to 29 ppg.

How was your night out in Phoenix Chris?

2011 actually had many great players having great seasons. this season it was between harden and curry.
curry clearly deserved it but he isnt the type of player to mark an era or something, he wasnt even close to top50 ever b4 this season.

But 2011 lacked that upper tier of performance that we have seen from Lebron and Durant from 2012-2014

It's a weak era. What else can you expect?

Yezzir.

And actually Blow Da Whistle came on at the bar last and I got a chuckle out of it. I actually find that nickname kind of amusing. It's like catchy in a way.

But yeah, it was a solid night all around. Phoenix talent level is off the charts.

The only reason why people are saying it was a down year for MVP is because prior to this season Curry wasn't considered a superstar. If Curry ends up having multiple season like he did this year and ends up being a 1st ballot HOFer nobody will look back and say 2015 was a weak year for the MVP race.

Yeah it was, but MVP's don't necessarily need to have the magnitudes of '14 Durant '09 LeBron and/or '00 Shaq

When Harden finishes second in MVP race, it's a down year, and symbolic of a weak era.

Honestly, he's doing a pretty goo job validating that MVP in the playoffs so far.

His shooting is an unreal weapon. He's not just making a case for GOAT shooter, he's literally putting legit DISTANCE between himself and guys like Ray and Reggie in his rearview mirror. He's like running away with the GOAT shooter reputation. Shit's nuts.

Curry's minutes are drastically lower than the other two because their teams needed them to play a lot more minutes during those seasons they got those numbers. I mean, Durant without Westbrook? C'mon. Anyone's numbers are going to be huge in that scenario. Same with LeBron and an injury ridden Wade.

Curry's team is also extremely stacked, top to bottom so everyone is getting touches. The offensive scheme is a lot more free-flowing and open. Those Durant and LeBron led teams were more top heavy and star driven. Not as much team ball oriented. I'm sure if Curry's team wasn't stacked, different coach like Brooks who ran no plays, his 2nd option injured throughout the season, him playing 40+ minutes, he could average some very impressive numbers on great efficiency.

No. Curry deserved it. Let's not forget the Warriors had 67 wins and he played a HUGE part in that. Curry may not have had an all time great season, but his season was the definition of valuable.

The MVP is a season by season award, past seasons don't really matter. Curry, Harden, Westbrook and Lebron all had legit MVP seasons and the race was close so I don't see what the deal is.

This is a good point, ignoring 2011, lets look at the MVPs since 2008

08: Kobe (Top 10 player ever at his peak)
09: LeBron (Top 10 player ever entering his peak)
10: LeBron (look above)
12: LeBron (At his peak)
13: LeBron (Look above)
14: Durant (Had one of the best seasons ever for a small forward)

People have been spoiled, they expect MVPs like this every year.

Take away Steve Kerr, and the new coaching staff

Curry is the same player he was the year before

Stats are eerily similar too...

His number one avenue to score is the 3pt shot

Which surprise surprise....

Is usually the shots that are available within a good coached offense

Now does that mean he didn't deserve his MVP? No

He was the best player on the best team

The problem now is

People are going as far to say he IS the best player in the league

Which is clearly not the case

It was a bummer that GOATbrook, Durant, and LeBron were injured so long. Next year with them healthy & Eyebrow in his 4th season should be much more interesting.

He's putting 36 points a game on 62% FG in this series

His numbers weren't amazing because he sat a lot due to blowouts. Looking purely at numbers you could say it was a down year. Put the playoffs have shown how good Curry really is.
