Washington's main issue is complacency. The Wizards could stand pat if Pierce decides to return to D.C. next season rather than opt out of his deal, but many around the league believe Pierce will do just that and finish his career back home in Los Angeles with the Clippers. Either way, the Wizards need a long-term solution at power forward to go with their electric backcourt of Wall and Beal and the emerging Porter, who was a terrific 3-and-D man during the playoffs and looks ready to claim the small forward spot full time.

Reunited with Doc AND he's going to his hometown in Los Angeles? This is potentially bigger than Kevin Garnett and Lebron's returns combined.

Really wish he would have gone to the Clippers this year. They would be in the WCF right now if they had PP

Good, puts Barnes on the bench.
Probably doesnt actually. The bench needs a boost and pierce isnt looking to play big minutes in the regular season.

Good, puts Barnes on the bench.

Good signing if it happens. He does not even need to to start. Clips can actually afford Pierce to sleep walk through the regular season and turn it up in the playoff.

It's sad that he became a journey-man

It's over for the League if this happens. The King in the North coming to conquer the West?

This would be pretty much like when Grant Hill signed with the Clippers. I doubt his body would hold out one more season. Clippers are still going to need a 3, Pierce is old and Barnes is just a good sub.

Pierce literally needs to just show up to games during the regular season and be unleashed in the playoffs for LA. Did you see what he did during the playoffs this year? I don't see why he'd have a dramatic drop off being the what, 5th scoring option on the Clippers? Especially if he can just chill until playoff time.

Guaranteed they don't lose to Houston if he was on the team this year.

The Clips do need Paul Pierce. They lack clutchness.

Whichever "journalist" made up this rumor to substantiate his article must not have been paying attention during the Wiz's playoff runs when the broadcasters were talking about Pierce's stated desire to finish his career with Washington, stay involved with the team. He's already bought a home in DC and has a routine of dropping his kids off at school before he goes to work out, etc.

I mean if you believe the game announcers, who talk to the players directly before the games each week, then it would appear that some idiot on a website is literally just making up a notion and claiming to have been told of their validity by "inside sources around the league" when really he just made it up himself to have something to write.

In other words, business as usual.

Pierce is a good fit in the Clips. He will provide more leadership and add clutchness to the Clippers

Clippers need to be getting younger and add bench depth that can play 82 games a year and take the load off the starters not adding another old guy who they'll end up watching his minutes

exactly

this does not help even a little bit. if they get him for the minimum it's fine but they need young athletic defensive players much more than pierce.

1 year too late. Potentially missed their best shot to make a truly deep playoff run with this nucleus (although you never know...). All Doc had to do was not give full MLE to Hawes and not use the entire BAE on a washed up PG and he would have never had to do the short-sighted Dudley or Rivers trades. Legit think that some of the most intelligent ISH posters could have done a better job than GM Doc this past season....that being said, he'd be a good veteran presence and could play as a nice stretch 4 to stabilize units when BG takes a breather.

Pierce, don't ruin your career with the Donald Sterling curse!

Doc got gift wrapped the big 3 in Boston. He got great talent and won and then thought he was a genius to the point that he outsmarts himself by over complicating things by ignoring the obvious best move for some ridiculous move.

Actually, Phil Jackson is pretty much in the same boat.
