Although you dont get a ring for it, going to the Finals means winning a Championship in its own right as you are afterall the Champion of the East / West... a nice trophy comes with that to...

As a team that team accomplishment is 2nd only to an NBA Championship that comes afterwards.... especially exciting to all those guys who never thought of ever being able to get there & coming from the bottom and these circumstances Cavs faced, meaning everybody on that roster except Lebron & Varejao/Miller/JJ....

Thats what going to the Finals means.... its not just another playoff round, it means you won a championship, its an East/West NBA championship and now you have the official stage to win THE nba championship in the Finals..... and this is Lebrons 5th in a row....

Another addition to why missing the playoffs or losing earlier than Finals is nowhere near more prestigious than having a Finals appearance, even if it is a loss its not an insult....
