They'll get out of this somehow.
I don't think so bro. The US does not **** around when it comes to this sort of thing. These aren't just some accusations from journalists that can easily be resolved by doing a bureaucratic shuffle. This is the US department of justice bringing in high level white collar criminals from halfway across the globe. They wouldn't do it if they didn't have a slamdunk case. These guys are big fish. These guys are going to prison, and they are going to uncover a ton of shit about FIFA in the process.
[INDENT]Jeffrey Webb (Cayman Islands) - President of CONCACAF, member of FIFA Executive Committee
Eugenio Figueredo (Uruguay) - President of CONMEBOL, member of FIFA Executive Committee
Jack Warner (Trinida and Tobago) - President of CONCACAF from 1990 to 2011, former FIFA vice-president
Eduardo Li (Costa Rica) - President of the Costa Rican Football Federation, CONCACAF representative to FIFA
Julio Rocha (Nicaragua) - President of the Nicaraguan Football Federation, FIFA development officer
Costas Takkas (Cayman Islands) - Former general secretary of the Cayman Islands Football Association
Rafael Esquivel (Venezuela) - President of the Venezuelan Football Federation, member of the FIFA disciplinary committee

Hopefully, but there's still another 200 or so officials that can take their place. There's a lot more criminals in FIFA that need to be convicted, and right now, yeah it's nice that they've arrested those eight guys, but it's still a matter of 'cut one head off, another two will take its place' until they can really dig deep.
This is just the start. Some of these guys will roll over and start spilling their guts. In the end wouldn't be a surprise if FIFA gets taken down to bare bones by all this. Now you have the Swiss opening up a separate investigation besides the US charges
There's a lot of very scared men this morning

America does not mess around when it comes to this stuff. Governing bodies for sports are to be treated very seriously. It is sad to know how corrupted FIFA is and nobody is doing anything about it except for us.
This is the first step in making the MLS the greatest league in the world.
We don't play by FIFA dates.
I have a feeling FIFA will be an American institution. MLS will be like the NBA and FIFA will be like FIBA.

He's trolling, but it would be very good if the WC only went to countries which have the facilities for it and have a first team that can legitimately qualify for the tournament. Only England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan, Korea, US, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Russia are legitimate WC hosts.
This nonsense in Qatar and previously in South Africa is an affront to the game.

Lets be real here, it is sad to see what is happening to these stadiums. If they were smart, they would have built these stadiums at cities where professional clubs play at.
A lot of these Olympic venues and stadiums are left to rot. Look at China's Olympic facilities, they are left to rot.
Any World Cup that is considered in both Americas, should really be sent to the US.

How come? Dont forget the option of joint hosts, like Poland and Ukraine did the Euro Cup in 2012. There are more options other than the countries you listed. And i agree that there are countries that are not suitable such as Qatar, but there is corruption involved most likely in that case.
You forgot Australia.
Meh, Australia obviously has the facilities to host a WC, but can we trust Australia to have a good, qualification worthy first team ten years in the future? I don't think so. They just had a decent generation and made a couple of tourneys.

How come? Qatar's team sucks huge camel ass. It's disgusting to see a team that horrible playing at the most prestigious tournament. They don't have any football culture, they don't have any facilities. A Sheikh bought the WC as a toy. Qatar has no chance of getting through qualifications legitimately in the next 100 years.
SAF should be spending money on massive high tech stadiums when 90% of the country lives in abject poverty. Gross.

Agree, in both World Cup and Olympic events... it's sad to see some of these countries bending over backward, building venues/infrastructure that will never be used again (or at least not used to their max potential) all for a few weeks of fame and fortune
These organizing groups have a larger responsibility to their host cities that they need to recognize. Basically when it's all said and done they kind of treat their hosts like whores...

I don't believe you should build new facilities for Olympic events that will perish away after a few weeks. Look at Brazil, one of the stadiums is a parking lot and they still have to get ready for the Olympics.
The best place is to hold the World Cup in the USA again. If you think the WC in the USA was the greatest ever, wait till you see all the new facilities we have. It will blow any WC out of the water.
Teams would be playing in facilities in group stages that would be equivalent to the actual final's stadium.
USA should be the host country permanently.

nah...those stadiums are pretty weak.
La Liga only has 3 stadiums that are WC worthy. Bilbao's new stadium, Nou Camp and Bernabeu.
Bundes only has the Allianz.
EPL has some nice facilities but would be deemed too small for a WC event with the exception of Wembley.
Italy, we don't even want to talk about the stadiums there as their league is struggling.
Only the USA can hold a WC every year and still have enough great facilities that can hold 90k plus people in all group stages.
This is talking about existing stadiums because it would be a waste of money to see these countries build stadiums and let them go to ruins.

FIFA sealed their own fate when they sold the World Cup to Qatar. That decision made absolutely no sense, and it was obvious only a huge bribe would lead to such a choice.

9erempiree
05-28-2015, 12:51 AM
FIFA is one of the most powerful and corrupt institutions on the planet. It has been for years, for decades. Anyone who follows football would agree. But why are they only starting to be investigated now? Why is it the investigation been led by the United States, a country with no football culture or history? Why weren't FIFA investigated when we knew they were corrupt before France 98? Or Japan/Korea 2002? Or Germany 2006? Or South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014? Why wasn't it investigated in 1994 when the United States hosted?
Is it really a coincidence that the FBI/United States have started to "take a stand" just before the World Cups are held for the first time in Eastern Europe (Russia) and the Muslim Middle East (Qatar)? Is it a coincidence that they've decided to take a stand 3 days before Palestine was to put forward a motion to ban Israel from FIFA? I welcome any investigation into corruption, but not when its been used as a political tool to further humiliate and isolate certain areas of the world. Why shouldn't Russia or the Middle East host it? The report clearly states that "corruption has been widespread for generations", so why wasn't it investigated 20 years ago when America and Western European countries were hosting it?
The reason why it wasn't investigated before because those idiots in Europe let FIFA run wild. Leave it to the American to liberate the soccer fans all over the world. I don't think it is a coincidence. Giving the WC to Qatar definitely raised a huge red flag.
First of all, it is one of the smallest country in the world and why hold a big sporting event in a country that doesn't have the infrastructure to do so. It is widely known that Qatar has infrastructure issues before the winning the bid to the WC and now they think they can magically hold it.
Second of all, it is 130 degrees in the summer at Qatar. You are going to tell me that FIFA thought this through? Hey wait, lets hold it in the smallest country in the world in 130 degree weather. Qatar sold the public on a summer event and it looks like its going to be a winter event now.:facepalm
Also what sparked this investigation was the arrest of an American who worked for FIFA. He was actually the snitch who ratted out all those thieves out.
9erempiree
05-28-2015, 12:59 AM
It is vital that America takes over the duties of FIFA and perhaps even holding the event at a permanent location here in the States. Security, venue and infrastructure would allow it to be a prestigious event like '94. Most people are already saying Qatar will be the worse in history and I agree.
The problem with holding it in America is all the scum of the world is going to come into our great cities. This is one reason why I would not want it to have a permanent home here.

70 WPM and my quick mind equals an essay. It is very easy for me.
Especially in a message board, you can usually tell the smarter posters can write essays and paragraphs with ease.
