Has ALS

And has lived with it for 20+ years

When normally those with ALS die in much shorter time?

Must be one in a million right?

How do we know the automated voice is ACTUALLY him?

And not NASA spewing their agenda about a heliocentric world?

As crazy as all this shit sounds

Just think about it for a minute

Things don't add up

...

But I'm just an idiot... Right?

Wake up

Absolutely, but as far as the topic, I've often wondered this myself.

Life expectancy for ALS is like 3-4 years. Although according to wiki 10% of people diagnosed live longer than 10 years.

Still, the disease is supposedly degenerative and terminal. For Hawking to still be kicking after all this time is pretty remarkable.

Then again, if Magic can buy a cure, why not Hawk?

But Chris

With a degenerative disease such as ALS

The chances of survival would continually be slimmer and slimmer and he grows older. The severity of the illness would increase exponentially year after year, which is the case for MOST with ALS. Yet this skinny nerd is some sort of supernatural human.

But I'm just a loony.... Right?

100% without question, but as far as the points you make, I think they are fair.

Or the degenerative mechanisms haven't affected the motor neurons involved with respiration which is the leading cause of death in patients diagnosed with ALS. There is also the case where the symptoms are similar to ALS but the mechanisms are different, just like cancer where there can be many complex inputs that result in the same symptoms. If you look at the genetic variants associated with ALS you see that they only account for a small percentage of sufferers leading to the conclusion that mechanistic variability is significant amongst sufferers that are diagnosed.

He doesn't have ALS.
More probably PMA (progressive muscular atrophy).
Still impressive since the life expectancy in this case is 10-20 yrs.
