First time this has happened since the inception of the league.

Just goes to show you that coaching in the NBA in nothing more than getting talent, and staying out of the way.

To be fair, Blatt is an established coach and has won numerous championships in the Israeli and Euroleague. He's not like Kerr who is facing a completely new experience as a head coach and hats off to him for what he's accomplished so far.

I understand that they're both NBA coaching rookies, but they're both facing a different situation going in.

Surprised at how good a defensive coach Blatt seems to be. Lebron is largely responsible for the offense but Cleveland's defense has been filthy at times this postseason, super versatile and really smart adjustments. He was touted as an offensive genius coming in but honestly I'm more impressed with his defensive schemes than anything else. Straight up embarrassed a very talented Bulls team and a 60 win Atlanta offense.

Has Kerr had a previous coaching job anywhere? Assistant coach? Son's AAU? Church league? 60 and up at the Y?

He was a GM for phoenix. Never a coach for anything relevant.

Kerr has played in the NBA finals and won, he's been around this for many years in many different aspects... He's probably better equipped to deal with it than Blatt is

Agreed. Look at Spo, 4 straight trips to the Finals and 2 rings, and he has nothing to show for.

He coached teams which were defensive juggernauts and also teams which were scoring machines, just shows that he is good coach who can adjust to what roster he has and make best of it,obivously Lebron is biggest reason they are in Finals but Blatt did decent job this year

Going to respectfully disagree. I think winning championships as a coach at any level is more valuable to your coaching experience than winning NBA championships as a role player. That's like saying somebody will be a great GM because they were a great player and in cases such as Isiah Thomas and Michael Jordan, we know that not to be true.

Kerr does have more experience with the NBA culture, but Blatt's overall coaching experience tops that, imo.
