It kinda makes sense. Coaches usually win coach of the year for leading teams with low expectations to crazy records or leading teams with high expectations to high records.

There comes a point where you keep leading a team that probably shouldn't be that good to great records and management starts expecting titles, perhaps unfairly.

Bud won coach of the year for winning 60 games with a team that would have won about 45 for another coach. He will probably never win a title and get fired eventually if he keeps it up.

Look at those first 5 names. This ESPN guys just didn't have no idea about voting for COY.

All it is is that you can fire a coach and it won't affect the cap. You can't just get rid of players without trading or eating their salary plus the cap hits. When there needs to be a shake up, coach is easy choice. If they could just fire players they would do that instead.

This isn't always the case. A lot of the times it's the coach winning on the backs of great players...like Scott Brooks and Mike Brown...and when the team inevitably plateaus, it's because the players....Kevin Durant and Lebron James...can only carry so much dead weight. The coaches get fired not because they can't further overachieve, it's because they never really achieved in the first place and the front office finally picks up on it.

Well obviously it isnt always the case, but Mike Brown is kinda a difference case. He was fired not for underachieving necessarily, but because the Cavs thought Lebron didnt like him. They brought him back a few seasons later.

I dont remember why Scott Brooks won coach of the year though. Cant comment on that.

It seems like almost every organization and fanbase hates their coach.

Laker fans hate Scott
Raptors fans hate Casey
Wizards fans hate Wittman
Bulls fans hated Thibbs
Thunder fans hated Brooks
Pelicans fans hated Monty
Rockets fans HATE McHale
Heat fans hate Spo
Wolves fans hate Saunders
Knicks fans hate Fisher

Carlisle, Popovich and Budenholzer are the only ones who are appreciated.

Disagree. Unless you're referring to the noobs on ISH. Not a lot of praise for anything goes on around here.

Fans want to win. Those teams are either lottery or haven't been to finals. Coaches are easy targets

Tony Parker haters that think Pop has gone senile. ( I agree with this one though, that nikka plays Parker way too much)

Bad year for Pop. Was bored with basketball and couldn't wait to go on vacation and drink some wine.

He knows how to adapt though. He'll come back with passion next year.
