Can somebody explain to me why Wade took a pay cut?

He was guaranteed 41.5 million this season and next, but opted out and resigned for 2 years 31 million. The salary cap does not go up until the summer of 2016 so there was no point in opting out last summer.

He should have stayed on his last deal and got the extra 10 million. Then sign a 3 year 45 million contract in 2016. I can't see him getting paid more than 15 million past 2016.
