thought i'd try here first before having to register for some tech forum.
basically my phone went dark. everything is working but i can't see the screen. i can hear the buttons when i press them, just can't see anything.
i tried almost everything without any luck. until i did a 'soft reset' by taking out the battery, holding down on power button for a minute, then letting it all sit for about 10 minutes, putting everything back in where it worked, and i could see the screen again.
i thought i had it fixed but after about 5-10 minutes screen went blank again. i've repeated this about 3~ times so far, keeps going blank after i do the 'soft reset'.
fukkin AT&T is trying to charge me $200 for a refurbished one, or using a 'upgrade' plan on my account to buy a note 4 for $900 lol :facepalm
so basically trying to self repair this one, and from what i'm reading the issue is related to the new Kit Kat OS, which is straight up BS where i should be able to sue them since its on their end while pretending its more shit i have to pay for.
PS i did not drop the phone or anything

judging by whats happening would u guess its a app causing it, or hardware? there has to be a way to disable whatever it is i'm hoping, and if it were hardware it wouldn't come back on at all, right? :confusedshrug:
Upgrade plan to buy a Note IV for its launch day MSRP? You can get a new one for $500. A used one for much less. :oldlol: Also Samsung :facepalm
Have you tried a master reset? Try turning off the device, and hold the Volume Up, Home, and Power button. Tell me if anything pops up.

yeah i tried that but still loads back up dark....
only thing making it come on oddly enough is when i take out the battery, hold down power for a minute, and then let it all sit for about 10 minutes~, and most of the time it'll come back on again for about 10~ minutes before going blank again.
it sort of makes me think either the battery or component in the phone needs cooling down(battery out) for it to come on? then maybe it gets too hot again and goes dark?
either that or a app is coming on maybe?
i don't know. and yeah the biggest joke is AT&T makes it sound like its some deal part of my plan to pay $900 for a Note 4...granted it'd be installments over 30 months or something

i think i fixed it by updating my app's
basically don't use a new OS(lollipop) until all of the kinks have been worked out. i should've known when it comes to tech shit, u usually screw yourself over getting in early.
thank God them clueless idiots at AT&T didn't con me into buying a new phone. lol @ master techs who know way less than googles :facepalm

lollipop is so shitty it isn't even funny
removes functionality and breaks shit, android/google needs to fix their shit badly. i know they have such a wide # of phones but this type of thing would never happen at Apple

I agree 100%. I downloaded awhile ago and it broke my nexus 7. after some updates it got to working conditions but it doesn't run as perfectly as it was before.

the thing that pisses me off about this even tho i'm out in the clear now, is how many people are AT&T duping pretending their phone is broken while selling them new phones?
they have to know damn well lollipop has issues but i didn't get that possibility from any of them.
its like one big scam they're pulling based on the new OS they pushed their customers to have before it was fully ready. i read Verizon hasn't released lollipop for their users because of that, so it makes you wonder what AT&T are pulling.
some lawyer needs to file a class action or some shit

Never accept any updates until after a few months. There will bound to have mini patches after a major update. This not only applies to Android, this also goes for Apple as well. Remember the IOS 8 update which causes so many huge issues on the iPhones? Just last month IOS 8.3 update caused a WIFI dropped issue.
Just be patient and let others update and report the issue so you don't have these headaches.

I don't think AT&T is plotting some grand scheme. The sales reps are just trying to get their commission

i don't even like apple but when they have issues they fix their shit quickly.
lollipop has been out for months and is still f*cked up. even has issues on their flagship devices

iOS updates are a lot smoother, and patches are quicker. Android updates are up to the Carriers themselves most of the time, and almost never update or patch bugs. It's a horrible experience, one of the worst things about Android.
I agree though. Never update immediately. Especially when you have a Samsung. It's incredible how terrible the TouchWiz UI just finds a way to screw everything up, not to mention the phones themselves are poorly constructed to begin with.

Lollipop was released eons ago, and it had already received like 4 huge updates (google just released 4 for KitKat) and it still has problems. They knew what they were doing...
It is the same thing like my Tablet you will have to flash it.
