Very nicely laid out video. It's pretty insane to see the death totals compared to all the other wars.

Watched a great WWII documentary series recently (World War II in Color (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1JGtsilzwg))

Insane the amount of constant death and destruction the war (and WWI) unleashed. The U.S. completely freaked out after 3,000+ people died on 9/11, and not trying to trivialize it... but one of the segments was about 'carpet bombing' runs by the RAF on German civilian targets. One raid alone claimed like 60,000 victims in a few hours. Everyone was back to work the next day, living life normally. Some even paraded in the streets as a f*ck you to the bombers. Just something they came to expect.

Glad we live in a more civilized, though obviously not perfect, time.

I've seen it many times, definitely the best WW2 documentary there is. Highly recommended.

Yeah, total war is pretty awful. Even the UK which didn't suffer an invasion had bombed out buildings well into the 1950's. I read Pete Townshend's biography and he and a lot of the 60's rock and rollers grew up playing in ruins as kids.

But as for 9/11, the US has been lucky to have it wars be in other countries. The number killed on 9/11 represent the highest total of any military effort within America. It was more than died at Pearl Harbor. Also not many people knew what Pearl Harbor was before then.

Germany was already done by the time D-Day occurred.

The Russians completely destroyed the Germans

Dumbass Hitler shouldve let his generals run the war.

Shouldn't have invaded Russia at all. Can't win that.
