Do you get the assist if the scorer went up and his shot was goaltended?

Say you are a backcourt player and you give a perfect feed to a guy inside who goes straight up for the shot - normally would be an assist - but the guys shot gets goaltended. The scorer gets his 2 points because it was a goal tend, but does the assist man still get his assist?
