I got

Shaq (7'1)
Garnett (6'11)
Durant (6'9)
Jordan (6'6)
Magic (6'9)

Nobody is getting past this team offensively. Too much size, and KG/Jordan can lock anybody up when they set their minds to.

Jordan and KG on this team wouldn't even have to focus as much on offense since Magic,Durant, and Shaq can handle the scoring.

So who can make a team that can beat mines?

*NOTE* I did not price these guys. I wouldn't put LeBron's trash ass at $5 and Durant at $2.

1. Hakeem $1
2. KG $1

It's not a fair distribution as Hakeem/Shaq are bargains at $1/$2 so is KG at $1 (compared to Malone at $5?)

First team:

Oscar 4
Kobe 4
Durant 2
Duncan 3
Shaq 2

I think this is the best team one could possibly build. So much defense, athleticism and size, spacing, fundamentals and Alpha champion winners. No weaknesses and so much chemistry and balance.

Reasons:

PG- Oscar is the most versatile PG of the list, and maybe of all players of any position, on the same level as Lebron and probably MJ. At 6'5" he is only second to Magic in height at the spot. Often viewed as a top 10 player in history.

SG- Kobe IMO is a 90 to 95% MJ, and for a buck less you get and equally fearless competitor that every so often can catch fire, surpass all and become the most skilled and explosive weapon in history.

SF- Durant could be argued as the best scorer at the position. There's no argument that Lebron and Bird are better overall but for only $2, there's no better buy than a player with such an amazing offensive talent and size. With so many other weapons and defenders on the team, Durant would be the player too costly to ignore on defense but too risky to focus. At $2, of this list, he is the player that would thrive most in any line up full of Top Hall of Famers.

PF- Duncan at $3 is a must for every team. He is the best at the position and the best defensive anchor of any dynasty apart from Russell's Celtics. A complete player, the best leader and winner among his peers at the position.

C- Shaq in his prime is the player that you start any team with. Not MJ, not Lebron, not KAJ, etc. Shaq at $2 is the biggest steal of all. One could argue that in this line up one could instead get Hakeem for $1 and switch Kobe out for MJ, which is very tempting, but not having Shaq on the team is too costly IMO. Shaq changes games and rules just by being there. The MDE in his prime at $2 is the centerpiece of any possible team.

My alternate team made of only Top 15 players in history:

Oscar 4
West 3
Larry Bird 4
Duncan 3
Hakeem 1

Don't know how that would actually work-out on the floor, just too many damn alphas!... But on paper, player with the GOAT peak (Shaq) plus two other with a top5 peak while 2 best in the clutch (MJ the GOAT and Bird the GOAT forward)? Along with the all-time best defensive PF (just one the best ever PF's), and a top3 all-time PG, a very clutch sob? Forget about it, game over...

Keeping it more team oriented, trying to see it work more than just on paper, with everyone getting their touches, everyone happy, ball moving, so on... I'd probably go with:

Magic
West
Bird
Dirk
Hakeem

Got the 2nd best defensive player ever now, the GOAT PG, terrific passing all-around, killer shooting, floor really spread for the many post-up threats, kill you on all fronts, major team defense (going more for that), well oiled machine...

Leaves a ton of money on the table ($9 total) but would be absolute murder on the break and would make a lot of sense as an actual team. The issue with Jordan and one of the great pgs is that between Jordan and all the other offensive players, a guy like magic who while he obviously is incredibly unselfish either has to have the ball in his hands a lot so either him or Jordan has to be used wrong.

I thought about dirk and I understand his spacing but I really like the help and recover abilities of this team.

Even if you took all 5 of the $1 players that team could easily contend with any other team:

The team I would make given your values is:

Wade vs Stockton - Wade is too much for that midget
Kobe vs Jordan - virtually a wash.. both can't guard each other.
LeBron vs Bird - no question LeBron.. Bird would get abused on the perimeter.
Garnett vs Duncan - wash
Hakeem vs Hakeem - the one playing with KG has better spacing.

Jerry West vs Nil bench..

next.
Stockton would make Wade quit basketball and break both of his fragile knees lol. Stockton is an all time great defender.
i agree on sg position.
Bird would destroy bron with post ups and shooting, but lebron can get his with drives, probably a wash too.
Duncan's a better player, not soft like KG.
Hakeem hakeem obviously a wash, spacing doesn't really matter for hakeem.

PG: Dwyane Wade ($1)

SF: LeBron James ($5)
PF: Kevin Garnett ($1)
C: Hakeem Olajuwon ($1)

Bench: Jerry West ($3)

No offense, but your team is probably the worst fuccking one in the entire thread.

Absolutely no three point shooting except for LBJ and Kobe who arn't amazing at it. Three players who are ball hogs.

If anyone puts just one of LBJ, Wade, Kobe on their team they need to surround them with shooters. Let alone someone as retarded to put all three of them on there.

i came up w/ the same lineup as sexsymbol. proven winners, no one really overlaps much.

gritty, efficient stockton at PG. will set hard screens...as many already know, stockton was somewhat of a dirty player. he will do what it takes to win. i want him on my side.

jordan is familiar playing w/ him and well, he's jordan. give me the best player on the court on most nights.

bird would spread the floor and bring about his versatility both passing in the full court and posting up, while bringing in the occasional double. team player/high bball IQ.

duncan is the best PF ever and had one of the best finals runs ever. total steal at this price rate and i have no doubt he would mesh with this team. he and hakeem would anchor that defense and both would be crazy low post options. both are also exceptional passers for when bird or jordan cut to the hoop. jordan has also said that he would have loved to play with hakeem. have fun w/ that inside-out game.

i can't even imagine that perimeter defense between stockton and jordan. stockton led the league in steals twice. if you get past them, hakeem and duncan will be waiting.

the only thing this team would be somewhat lacking in is always converting points from turnovers. definitely will be some turnovers, but i'm not sure the raw athleticism is always there to get fast break points, at least against these other legends and given their skillsets.

they'll kill in the halfcourt though...basically three players that don't need the ball in their hands to be a major factor and it's not like the other two need it that much anyway. i didn't just take the best five players. i factored in how they would mesh.

Hakeem for 1 and Shaq for 2 are steals.
If you replace Walt Frazier with Steph Curry for 1, the best team will be:
MJ - 5
Lebron - 5
Curry - 1
Hakeem -1
Duncan - 3

GOAT shooter in Curry.
GOAT closer in MJ.
lebron, Curry, MJ can all play point positions.
Lebron and MJ can lock down the perimter.
Hakeem and Duncan are GOAT rim protectors with GOAT/solid tier offensive arsenals.
Good luck everyone.

Mine would be

PG: Magic 5$
SG: Jordan 5$
SF: Dr J 3$
PF: KG 1$
C: Dream 1$

GOAT defense GOAT fast break

The biggest steals here are Hakeem at 1$ and KG at 1$. The PF is all fucced up actually. Should be

Duncan: 5$
Garnett: 4$
Nowitzki: 3$
Barkley: 2$
Malone: 1$

Center should be

Wilt: 5$
KAJ: 4$
Shaq: 3$
Hakeem: 2$
Russell: 1$

all the rest seem fine, I might switch walt frazier with isiah thomas

Agreed 100%.

Only $11. The PG, SG, SF, and PF are among the GOAT defenders at their position. 2 of the GOAT scorers at their positions (SG & C). Possibly the 2nd greatest passer of all time in Stockton. Literally no weaknesses. MJ and Stockton are very good shooters (Stockton is elite) and Pippen is pretty good as well.

Why Bird though? MJ, Timmy, and Hakeem are all good scorers. All 4 of them are very good passers as well. Wouldn't Pippen's defense be more beneficial to the team?

lol his team was the same as mine except with Pippen instead of Bird and I can see the case for either as it was the toughest choice I had to make.

On one had Pippen/Jordan are proven to be a perfect duo, on the other hand Bird was basically the biggest threat to Jordan throughout his early career, so putting them both on the same team is insane and provides them with two unstoppable perimeter threats and two of the clutchest players of all time.

Also someone needs to make a game like this accounting for a bench because then you could take Bird and just stagger his minutes so that he is like dominating with the 2nd unit

Michael and Scottie are good enough shooters to cover that well enough. (Magic too, he wasn't a complete marksman from 3 but I don't doubt he can make some when it's needed).

I am assuming we can pick from one position multiple times so

5$-Jordan
5$-Lebron
1$-Pippen
1$-Garnett
1$-Hakeem

I think this is bay far the best defensive team and all of lebron jordan and pippen above average 3-pointshooters but both hakeem and garnett are fantastic shooters for bigmen

Game over.

Best combination of shooting and passing. Only way interior defense could get any better is if you replace Olajuwon with Russell. No single player needs to dominate the ball. Could go with Stockton in place of Oscar and be almost as effective.

In a team like this you'll still only end up with 2 go to scorers and everyone else has to be able to play off the ball. So it's important to identify your go to players and then build around them.

Jordan and Shaq will be your primary scoring duo. This will be facilitated by Lebron and spacing provided by Garnett and Durant, both excellent spot-up shooters from the mid-range to the perimeter respectively.

Defensively, the inside is locked down with Shaq and KG, a versatile duo and the perimeter being patrolled by James, Jordan and Durant, again a very versatile trio.

Don't see a weakness at all.

Bird would be a beast defensively on that team. Any time another player slowed down his man Bird would pounce. Bird and Hakeem would both be double-teaming nightmares. The others are good passers, but Bird was absolutely elite. And he spaces the floor.

Cause when you have Hakeem, Duncan, Jordan, and Stockton; you're covered on defense. Bird stretches the floor and can score from anywhere, is a phenomenal passer, a better rebounder, is one of the greatest leaders in league history, and is cold blooded in the clutch.

Bird was always a good team defender anyway.
