Theres no need for the steel to melt, at higher temperature the steel loses its strength, however, lets be honest Bush did it.

The temperature of molten steel beams is definitely high enough to burn jet fuel.
The question is why would the architect and structural engineers choose to build the World Trade Center out of molten steel beams unless they were in on it?
