With the 2015 NBA Finals about to start, let's take a look back at MJ's legendary 1st Finals appearance, unlike the others who failed to deliver in their first finals trip, the GOAT delivered with a GOAT performance averaging 31.2ppg 11.4apg 6.6rpg 2.8spg 1.4bpg on 56%fg 50%3pt.

Wow look at that rim protection. Players could hardly score at the rim in the 80's and 90's.

Eh. Perkins was about to go for the block, but he would have gotten stuffed badly. It's not that different than:

http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view1/1230850/lebron-dunks-on-garnet-o.gif

in that Garnett could have tried, but he knew he didn't have it.

To this day, in spite of how iconic Jordan's move was, I think that play would have been even more devastating if he had just thrown it down.

Huh?????

Look at the MAJOR paint camping, with NO spacing and ZERO clear path!!!!

Only MJ could make that shot!!!

What Lebron did as a 27 year old in the finals is very comparable to what MJ did.

This is why MJ an Shaq are at they only level when it comes to peak......prolly GOAT series by a player, game 2 against LA remains most perfect game I've ever seen from a player nikka was flawless on both ends curbstomped LA think he had 13 straight FGs at a point. A great LA team went from thinkin they had a shot after game 1 to bin complete demoralized an hopeless

Was he not ? Still putting up solid numbers, double double threat, All-NBA First team and 2nd in the MVP voting.

Unless you mean he was banged up in the finals, so it wasn't the same thing.

:biggums: 90 and 91 u can argue over any non 87 magic season. He was never more complete after he added that 3pt shot to his game

Maaaaannn, get outta here.

85-89 he was clearly a more dynamic, and better player overall.

85-89 he was clearly a more dynamic, and better player overall. No he was more dynamic in the late 80's/early 90's. His shooting/scoring was much better and his game was better suited for half court play. He could run the break as well as anyone but he could also slow the game down by turning into a point forward and getting his team a bunch of open looks from posting up. I don't understand how you could've seen footage from 1985 and 1990 and think he was better in 1985.

Magic was very much in his prime in '91. He was only 31 and just came off an MVP season the year before. He was closer to his peak in '91 than Bron is now.

1-9
It happens when you face an all-time great team like the '86/'87 Celtics in the first round. Also, 1-9 is when Jordan was a rookie/young player still developing and learning the ropes. While prime LeBron lost 3 straight years on the heavy favored team with home-court advantage and got outplayed by a 33 year old bench player in the Finals.

mj shittin' on magic with the 11 assist per game. and these aren't drive and kick to a 3 pt shooter stat-padding assists, either.

Game 2 might be the most perfect game in NBA finals history.

33 points, 13 assists, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block, 15-18 fg%

Shaq is consensus top 10 all-time.

Pippen is nowhere near Shaq... Yet despite having such a massively worse sidekick, MJ still did far better than Kobe in every way..

The MINUTE Jordan got just one all-star caliber player (Pippen), he went 6/6.. The MINUTE.. No one else has done more with less:

i.e. Lebron had prime Wade plus Bosh and lost - prime Wade alone is > Pippen... And Kobe had prime Shaq and lost... It's pretty obvious that MJ's game had superior capacity to adjust, and superior capacity PERIOD, so that he could handle all comers with just one all-star teammate (one that is less than Shaq or prime Wade).

Like your posts and threads but you're wrong here. It took like 3 years until Pippen was able to contribute. They still kept losing to the Pistons from 1988 - 1990.
