British culture is annoyingly somewhat similar to American culture in some aspects. I say this as a person going to the UK for an undergraduate degree in a year.

Honestly, they're very similar. UK is more similar to the US than it is to the rest of Europe.
The Anglo world is in a tier of its own

All of the English speaking world is relatively similar. England is more similar to Australia or Canada than it is to closer countries like Germany or Italy.

Or maybe they have, and they've seen elsewhere around the world too.

So England?
England? More free?
A country that doesn't have its own government.
Doesn't have a guarantee of freedom of speech.
Most laws made by a foreign "union".
Can't own a gun.
An island nation not allowed to fish in its own waters.
You can go to jail for using slurs or quoting Winston Churchill.
No. Not England.

Why would Brits want firearms? Their homicide rate is a fraction of ours--yes, even if you control for whites.
Last thing they need is 300 million guns floating around like us.

Where do you think the United States got the whole "right to bare arms" thing from?
The UK used to have lax gun laws. The current UK murder rate is higher than it was before the gun ban. The UK crime rate is higher than America's. What purpose does a gun ban serve?

A country where people still inherit political power. Yes the Royal Familiy and the House of Lords still have very real political power. The Royal family has absolute powers they can use to veto laws and go to war if they wanted to:roll:

How doesn't English culture value freedom? It's one of its longest traditions, and had taken root there, long before it was taken and expanded over on the American continent (whole legal system, and many other things, modelled on the English).
A culture is not the particular laws passed by a country in the recent past, for if that were the case, i would say American culture doesn't value freedom either, and hasn't for a long time.

Good, because if those things didn't exist, then all we'd have in the UK is an absolute democratic tyranny, rather than just a partial one.
The UK used to have plenty of safeguards against democratic tyranny (which serve in important purpose), and the House of Lords used to be the most important one (now stripped of its power pretty much) - alas, no more: whatever the 'majority' wants can be made into law whether it be tyrannical or not.

Acting like Canada is some foreign land with totally different culture and customs than the USA  Living in either country requires 0 adjustment whatsoever (barring the French speaking cities, which are effortless to get around in with no French)

The UK crime rate is nowhere near as bad as the US, they only look comparable because they use different methodologies. For example, the UK counts assaults that don't result in injury as a violent crime, the US does not. That alone skews thr numbers tremendously.
London, a city of 7 million people, had 93 homicides in 2014. No US could even dream of such a paltry homicide rate.

I spell colour with a U in the US and it's never mattered. I assume it wouldn't matter vice vera.
