Still sucks. He has no post moves and has terrible footwork. All he can try to do is back a guy down and try to force in some awkward shit.

His post game has been awesome lately and I'm someone who isn't quick to give Lebron credit and who loves post-play in basketball.
The defenses now have to handle Lebron like defenses I watch on film used to have to handle Elgin Baylor. A guy who can kill you from the perimeter or seamlessly move into the post either on a live dribble or in an off ball situation... and he will score or make the pass. You can't double if you do the right pass gets made. You can't single coverage with a small guy or he will back down with ease the poor person defending him. And you can't cover with a big guy his own size or bigger because his first step is still quicker than guys his own size.
Post play does not have to be about pretty fluid looking moves. It's about effectiveness and sometimes a simple brutal backdown with a drop step or crab dribble is all that is needed to get EASY position on a mismatch. That's why guys like Mikan, Shaq and Wilt murdered everyone in the post. It wasn't that they executed pretty looking moves a-la McHale or Olajuwon who are no doubt incredible post players themselves but pretty moves and fluidity doesn't make or break how effective one is in the post. If brute strength and trucking over your man makes the defense panic, than by all means that's effective in the post. Lebron is a huge threat in the post from what I've seen this past season. He didn't used to be, in fact he used to be laughably bad there are gifs of him looking awful against Boston on the Cavs from a few years ago, but he's a serious threat there now that defenses have to respect. He looks confident in the post, and his moves look very deliberate. He's got a power game in the post, as he should being 260lbs, and it works.

Rent Free, I agree entirely with CavsFTW on this one.
With his back on the guy in the post only these playoffs ive seen him successfully:
*Fake left or right and go for a fadeaway.
*Fake left or right, stop, headfake and shoot and/or jump into you for a shooting foul.
*Immediate turnaround jumper as he gets ball.
*Spinoff & go in for a layup/dunk.
*Back down all the way inside the paint for a baby hook.
*Blow right for a skyhook.
*Back down and then do the Dirk Nowitzki thing.
*Drop step.
*Crab dribble.
*Back down, stop around paint & do 1-2 headfakes and then use feetwork/pivot to spin around la Kobe for a shot.
...and when he faces you up in the post, then a whole series of new moves comes forth, but we are talking about only with his back to the basket right?
During all this he is constantly surveying the double-triple team/zone defense/trap to find a passing angle to a wideopen teammate....
He is no Hakeem...... but i would say he has a post game... and considering how efficient it is aswell (points per postup) and that he also kills teams with his passing from there more/better than anybody, it may all in all be the best post game in the game today unfortunately.... certainly that "Lebron has no post game at all" is kindof false at least.....

In the regular season, Lebron ranked only 78th out of 350 in isolation PPP, while his FG% ranked 117th out of 350.. In the playoffs, Lebron is 35th out of 40 in isolation PPP, and 30th out of 40 in FG%.
Drive-and-kick is the only aspect of scoring where Lebron is elite, and it depends on 3-point shooters spreading the floor.. So how would Lebron perform when there are NO shooters spreading the floor for him (previous eras)?
It's a great question, and one can only assume he'd perform worse... :confusedshrug:
To be a great scorer in the no-spacing eras, you simply HAD to be great at mid-range.. Literally every great scorer was a great mid-range player.. The lack of spacing prevented players from getting in the paint anytime they wanted, so guys HAD to settle for mid-range (see example above, where MJ is forced to settle for mid-range).
But Lebron is a HORRIBLE mid-range shooter (literally 35%), so how would he be a great scorer in previous eras??.. It's simple - he wouldn't be.

This post from 4 years ago pretty much sums up what I had been saying all along. And if Indian Guy is still around now you see what playing in the post does for a player. Lebron has shot like absolute garbage from the perimeter for this entire playoff run but playing in the post has given him high percentage shots, made defenses react on mismatches and opened up his shooters. If he hadn't waited so long to add it to his arsenal maybe 2011 would have been a lot different.

OP hasn't even been watching him play. Lebron's post play has been the focal point of his offense and he's broken teams down through his play down low.
