No. It's not the Warriors fault. They play whoever is matched up with them. They can't control shit like injuries.

They've had a lot of luck. Every team they have faced has had significant injuries, particularly at the PG spot.
But they are a historically good team, and would probably beat all of the teams at 100% anyway. A chip is a chip. Asterisks are something people use to try to discredit players they hate.

Asteriks are dumb, a ring is a ring. Gsw cant control the cavs being hurt. But if lebron continues to play well then I put 0 blame on him losing. They were heavy underdogs with kyrie, now he may be down. Already no love or andy v and vs a much better team

the only time I'd put an asterisk is if a team actually cheated to win.
Like buying off the refs, or being caught using performance enhancing drugs.
Tbh the closest asterisk season is the 2002 Lakers
But even though the refs took them past the Kings, we can't really PROVE it, so even they do not get an asterisk.

I don't think the Lakers paid the refs.
It was just the NBA wanting to extend the series.
Is it sill an * for you if it's the NBA cheating for the team? Or it has to be THE TEAM cheating?

That's actually a pretty good ethical question. I'd say probably it has to be the team itself. If a Tim Donaghy helped a team I wouldn't give them an asterisk if it wasn't their fault

I'm rooting for GS and I love the way they play defense into offense but I will say they have been very fortunate in the injury department. Also I will say that they are very lucky that they didnt have to face San Antonio in the playoffs. I think that's the only team in the NBA that they would have lost to. Tough match up for them all across the board. Clipps did them a favor

Eh. Pelicans weren't injured, Conley & Allen played majority of the games for the Grizzlies, and Rockets still beat the Clippers (meaning they weren't reduced to shit by losing Beverly and DMO). :confusedshrug:

Didn't Tyreke come out of game 1 and wasn't 100% for the series? I thought he only played the first quarter or so
But Conley was gone game 1, Allen gone game 4, and both those guys weren't 100% for the whole series.
Even though Rockets got past the Clippers, it doesn't mean that they weren't affected by losing Beverley/D-Mo. You can't tell me with a straight face that Curry being guarded by Terry/Prigioni is no different than being covered by Beverley. That could have made a big difference in the close first 2 games, and D-Mo is the most efficient post player in the league, who can also shoot 3's.
But the Cavs are easily the most injury riddled team in the league. 2 of 3 of the best players are injured... fuuuuck. Still pisses me off thinking what could have been.
It's no knock to the Dubs, and doesn't give them an asterisk, but you can't deny that they've had a lot of luck on the injury front compared to other teams, ESPECIALLY in this series.

Remember when Dwight Howard got injured early in that Golden State series and for a brief moment people were already talking about how the Warriors have caught another break? Dwight Howard was just fine and played the rest of the series and the Warriors still won in 5. Just imagine if it was a serious injury, people would be saying how Houston wins with healthy Dwight.
People have short memories, remember in game 4 of the Grizzlies series when Golden State decided not to guard Tony Allen and it worked. Warriors shut down the Grizzlies offense in the final 3 games of that series, do people really believe Tony Allen would have made a difference to the Grizzlies struggles on offense? Nobody gives credit to Golden State how they basically shut down Marc Gasol or how Randolph became quieter and quieter as the series went on.
That injured Rockets team still beat a healthy Clippers team in round 2, they had a healthy Harden & Dwight, they were a legit challenge. Does it really matter that the Pelicans were injured? We all know it still would have been a Warriors sweep.
You are witnessing a historically great team here folks, suffocating defense, explosive offense, a superstar in Curry, a very deep bench, good coaching, they have it all.

Isn't this the point of building a deep team though? Curry and Klay (and others) didn't play very heavy minutes during the regular season. Kerr also managed the amount they play in the playoffs very well.
Injuries are part freak accident and part because of the body being exhausted.
Anecdote maybe, but I think that it is very true. Curry stopped turning ankles partly because he got stronger/better endurance/etc and so his body didn't break down trying to make hard stops late in games.

injuries are part of every season
lockouts and finals saving shots by team mates aren't
( both happening maybe 1% of the time in nba history )
injuries happen 100% of the time in nba history. theres not a season that has gone by where there werent key injuries to someone
ofcourse there won't be an asterisk

Yeah I'm not denying that we've gotten lucky with injuries (maybe good karma after all those Bogut years lol), but I still think we'd make it to the Finals based off how comfortably the Warriors beat their competition on the way there.

TT's emergence is actually also a problem for the Cavs going forward, since they probably won't be able to afford to keep him this offseason.
With all the attention he has gotten this offseason, TT is going to be looking for a $50M+ deal, and a good chance at being a starter, and the Cavs can't give him either of those things.

They had a good grip on this game before Kyrie went down, and I feel like this game was the Cavs best shot at stealing one.
Klay and Draymond seemed nervous and unable to hit shots and Lebron and Kyrie were both "on".
I felt pretty confident in the Warriors taking the series even if they lost the game while watching.

Yeah, Tristan is getting a bit overrated on here. No doubt he's playing well, but he'd be overpaid if he got that much money. He's actually better coming off the bench.
