Kyrie out, so pressure off LeBron now
With Kyrie Irving done, you can't reasonably expect the Cavaliers to beat the league's best team -- which means LeBron is off the hook.

no excuses

2/6 is 2/6, you're not going to start putting asterisks on his losses. That's not how the game is played.

I noticed that was the company line earlier when they first announced Kyrie's injury. Stephen A., Wilbon, Adande, Sauces... all of them making sure viewers knew just how inconceivably impossible it was for Bron to beat the neophyte Warriors.

Funny how just last week they were looking to crown him GOAT for sweeping the hilariously terrible Hawks without K-Love or Kyrie. Went from 'LeBron's so great he's single-handedly sweeping a 60 win team' to 'Pack it up now folks. You can't expect LeBron to single-handedly beat a 60 win team... he's off the hook'.

F*ck outta here. 2 for 6 is 2 for 6 no matter how the Bron stans at ESPN try to spin it. :lol

Who the **** cares what ESPN thinks. Casuals know, and ISH knows 2 for 6, and 0-8 in the finals without Wade

Injuries were a big contributor to both of Lebron's champions' runs. It's part of the game and he should deal with it when his voodoo backfired

i find this very weird since Lebron went to the finals without Kyrie and was the GOAT because of it, i'm mean dude is a leader and took a bunch of scrubs to the finals through a incredible strong and talented east, what's the problem of beating GSW still without Kyrie?

So what are they saying? Lebrick is going to miss the 20\4 in 35 minutes that Kyrie apparently wasn't giving him?

I'm terrible confuse with all the spinning.

ESPN and other commentators are setting Lebron up for "success" no matter what happens. If GS wins and Lebron plays very well, they will say this finals doesn't count against him, and look how well he played. Of course, what they are all secretly hoping is that Lebron somehow actually does win, playing at an all time level, so that they can use this as further evidence of his GOAT status.

The worst case scenario of course, is if Lebron goes down quietly in 4 or 5 games, and plays mediocre and uninspired basketball. This is ESPN's worst fear, because we've all seen it before at times from Lebron.

I do agree with Adande that Lebron really has less pressure now. He's not expected to win and the media has so overemphasized this point that he literally can do no wrong -- unless he plays very bad by his standards. Just put up normal, solid numbers and everyone will say he did the best he could and had no help. Lose with great numbers, and the media will still, somewhat justifiably, laud him, especially if he can win some games against GS. Beat GS with great numbers, or even average numbers, and the knee jerk, prisoner of the moment media will be willing to crown him GOAT.

Really, it's GS who has the "pressure" now, if you can call it that. They are facing a Cav's team without their second two best players, and facing a Lebron with greatly lowered expectations. They are facing the inevitable risk of psychological letdown/relaxation, now that the Cav's second best player is down.

I am sure Lebron and the rest of the Cavs will be fired up on Sunday. They will be playing with emotion, ("let's win won for Kyrie, "how dare the media thinks we have no chance now," etc., etc.). It's urgent for GS to win this game, preferably in a convincing fashion. Win on Sunday and you put the Cavs on life support and probably deflate their emotional high. Lose to the Cavs on Sunday and the pressure only grows for the Warriors.

This series isn't over, no matter what the media may try to claim in an attempt to bolster/cover for for Lebron. Cavs with Lebron are still a dangerous team, and GS cannot afford to take them lightly.

Bron probs paying ESPN so he has some control over anything written about him - would not be surprised if he isn't involved to some extent.

You dudes are amazing, I could have sworn basically the whole sports world has picked Gs and Cavs are supposed to be massive underdogs here, immediately after the finals matchup was set. I don't understand what's being implied here if they were huge dogs with Kyrie. Wouldn't they be even bigger ones without him? But don't let common sense get in the way of the party here......

The worst case scenario is the most likely given Lebron's history. He has a history of giving up easily and playing uninspired at times. It seems like he uses ridiculous ESPN opinions like this one get to his head and uses his teammates as an excuse as a result. Just like last year. He actually shouldn't be expected to win in this case, but if he performs like shit and gives up too easily like he has in the past, he deserves a lot of criticism.

brown stains breathing a sigh of relief since they knew bron had an outside chance of winning before the kyrie injury. now they dont have to worry about fabricating excuses and defending their hero's legacy.
