Just a few minutes ago it started wildly moving across the screen...pissing me off.

Even without the mouse and this touch field on the Lap, its still running wild.. smh

do you have the physical button to turn off the touchpad? that should tell you if the touchpad went bad or whether you might have a virus.
did you try rebooting in to safe mode to see if that made a difference?
if you manage to turn the touchpad off and don't have a physical mouse, you can still control the cursor by using the "ease of access" control panel.

Restart. That should take care of it.
My laptop often has the track pad stop working. I usually hit F5 to make it work again. Idk if it's the os (windows 8) but its a new laptop

if this is a reoccurring issue just look up what drivers it has and get default ones that work for it

You have to annually scrub down the touch pad in the sink with soap and water
