View Full Version : We can all agree that FMVPs and MVPs are the greatest indicators of player success.

Player a has 2 FMVP, 4 MVP and is 30 years old

Player b has 2 FMVPs, 1 MVP and is 37.

Pretty clear which player will be ranked ahead when it's all said and done.

So far counting FMVPs have not mislead us.

It has solved the riddle as to how a player can win 6 or 7 rings and still not be considered one of the GOATs (Robert Horry), and why Michael Jordan himself IS the GOAT :confusedshrug:

Neither of those things matter for shit.

FMVP is voted on by what, a few media members?
MVP is voted on by more media members?

whats the relevance?

Rings / FMVP / MVP's

LeBron's at 2/2/4 which is still great..

I guess your right. If FMVP was voted on by people who knew basketball Gasol would have won it in 10'.

so you are admitting that it's a pointless and subjective award where as 5-2 > 2-4 can't be argued

Only championships matter. Not some award that's given to you.

Championships are won and lost by your own hand.

Player B won 5 championships in 7 finals appearances and was an A+ contributor on all 5.

Player A won 2 championships in 6 finals appearances and was an A+ contributor in all 2.

Hell, they named the FMVP award after him for cryingoutloud.

Player c has 5 MVP and 6 FMVP

Pretty clear which player is ranked ahead considering the fact that with all the advancements since player c retired, player a STILL can't keep up, making player c that much more impressive as GOAT.

Regular season MVP is a politicized stat, we all know that.

Steve Nash should not have more MVPs than Shaq or Kobe.

Shaq was obviously A+ in 2000, no way in hell Kobe was on his level. That's like giving '06 Shaq or '12 Wade, two clear second options an A+ as well.

Chauncey Billups = Dwyane Wade?

Derrick rose = oscar robertson?

Moses malone > hakeem olajuwon?

I think its more about rings by guys who won mvp than mvps by guys who won a ring

Sorry

Same with Paul Pierce and Kawhi Leonard.

Of course Shaq was the main contributor in 2000 but I can't disregard the fact that Kobe won a game for the Lakers while injured and showed up in the big time moments in the close out game.

He was the second option but a damn great 2nd option even when he was bean the brick.

We all know MVP is basically the award for the best player on the team with the best regular season record basically.

It's not the "Best Player in the League Award".

Hakeem is arguable the most talented all around player ever

Moses was a limited stat padding piece of shit

I can. The best player in the world was playing on a historically bad team.

Wasting your peak is the greatest injustice that can happen to a player.

Like Horry for rangz and Nash for MVP's, Willis Reed is the awkward outlier when using a certain criteria to rank players. If we ranked players based on this method he'd have a case for top 10 all time, and he'd be on the same tier as Kobe & Hakeem

I never said he was better. Others have though, like Lazarus, and it's not outlandish to say why, not that I care.

How did a stad padding limited piece of shit make own Kareem almost everytime he faced him, especially in the Finals ? A player a lot of people call the GOAT ?

And you've always said you don't remember jack shit from the 90's, so why are you talking about watching games when you probably didn't watch either.

Moses "the Kareem Killer" Malone.

6-1 against KAJ in the post-season (including 2-1 against him with a 40-42 team), and 4-0 against him in the Finals...all while beating him to pulp in the process.

Overall, in their 40 career H2H's, many of which came against a near prime KAJ...ownage.

Exactly.

Like I said, it's anyone's opinion to have Moses or Hakeem over each other, but it's hardly by a landslide.

So:

5x MVPs, 6/6 Rings, 6x Finals MVPs, DPOY > 4x MVPs, 2/6 Rings, 2x Finals MVPs > MVP, 5/7 Rings, 2x Finals MVPs?

Genius.
