"The 2015 NBA Finals have drawn the highest-ever ratings on ABC through two games, Nielsen announced Monday.

The Cavaliers tied the series Sunday night, 1–1, with the Warriors. Both of the first two games went into overtime at Golden State's Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif.

Through two games, this Finals series is averaging a 12.9 overnight rating. Sunday’s Game 2 also drew a 12.9 overnight rating, making it the highest-rated NBA Finals Game 2 ever on ABC. The broadcast’s rating peaked at 16.9 between 11 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. ET Sunday.

Sunday’s Game 2 marked a 26% increase from last year’s NBA Finals Game 2 between the Heat and the Spurs, which drew a 10.2 rating.

Thursday’s Game 1 drew a 10.6 rating.

This. The Spurs are a ratings killer. The '05 Spurs vs. Pistons finals must have been a major dud.

I'm surprised that the rating were very close to the first game while going head to head with Game of thrones. Third game should be the highest of the three.

OKC is boring. Just 'my-turn, your-turn' iso's every possession. No one wants to see that shit.

I didn't mean 2012 nba finals. I meant it has better ratings than all the 12 previous NBA finals. Only 2001 has given better ratings at this point.

Actually, Spurs were not that bad ratings wise these past years, they started their series with good ratings. 2014 ended with average ratings only because the series was too one sided. 2013 and 2014 actually started with better ratings than LAL and Celtics.

Yeah, LA vs Celtics didn't have that great of ratings, only a close game 7 boosted their overall ratings. Otherwise, 2012 and 2011 had better overall ratings up until game 5 and game 6 respectively. This year, the ratings are blowing away 2010 ratings, it's not even close.

Perhaps the casual fan finds them to be snoozy. The dismantling show the Spurs put on last year was a thing of beauty man.

Game 1 had more viewers than the 2014 World Series Game 1 AND the 2015 Stanley Cup Game 1 COMBINED.

Game 2 earned another million viewers more than Game 1, so it will probably repeat the feat.

The NBA is in great shape. It's now unquestionably the biggest sport in the US after football, and by some distance. The first two games of the last World Series averaged 12.5 million viewers, the first two games of Warriors/Cavs series has averaged 18.2 million -- almost a 50% increase over baseball's audience.

Stanley Cup game 1 had 5.5 million viewers. So not too bad, but obviously tiny compared to the NBA or even MLB.

Yet the Stanley Cup Finals has 5million more times the action and entertainment compared to the snooze fest that is MLB/World Series.

Of course it got higher ratings than last year when the Spurs put everyone to sleep.

That included putting LeBron* and company to sleep to and cruising to another championship.

Regardless of ratings, last years finals was the biggest beat down in NBA finals history; largest margin of victory ever.
