Except D-Lo ain't sliding past 3, unless the Sixers FO is absolutely braindead.

A Mudiay/Wiggins/Towns core would be just as impressive, though.

Deal makes no sense for the Knicks. Knicks need a spot up shooter that can handle the ball and play defense alongside Melo something along the lines of a prime Billups. Teams guarding the Knicks would leave Rubio wide open when Melo is in the post and Rubio's strengths would be negated.

Rubio needs to play on a fast pace offensive team where he can get some easy buckets in transition and find open shooters and finishers.

Russell isn't sliding past the Sixers @ #3 so trading for the #4 pick in an attempt to get Russell is 99% sure to fail.

Honestly, he's probably worth a lottery pick in the 8-14 range, but nothing above that. He's definitely NOT worth the #4 pick.

Rubio isn't much better than a playoff Dellavedova.

I wouldn't trade the nets 29th pick for him and that contract he gonna get let alone the 4th overall pick.

Rubio is a ****ing joke. He was decent before his ACL injury, good defender. Now he can't even defend like he used to. Literally one of the worst scorers ever.

That's such a bad rumor, it's a ball control PG when the Knicks don't play that style, making money they don't want to pay, for years when they don't want cap blocks who isn't even that good for the Knicks pick. Why not just refuse to make the pick and at least not have his salary?

Makes no sense in the triangle but the Knicks have a history of throwing money away. See Carmelo last year.

although I can see how Phil would want rubio for the triangle

he's a ball control PG yes but he has a high IQ and seems like a guy who could master the triangle and under the right coaching and mentoring could be molded into a perfect fit for the offense and basically an extension of the coach on the floor, running the offense.

have to remember that rubio is a great defender as well. he's honestly the perfect PG to be the 4th or 5th option on a championship team, so long as he is committed to the game which I think he has had problems with.

that being said, he ain't worth #4

If I'm the Wolves, I try to "sweeten" this offer with Pekovic or Martin, or even both lol. See what it takes to get Phil to give up a top lotto pick haha. There's a better shot of Mudiay developing his offensive game than Rubio does at this point, too.

Plus, Wolves could get out of long term contracts so their new core could grow together.

Rubio shouldn't be a part of the Wolves future. While he's a great point guard to run an offense, he is utterly horrible offensively. His shooting has either stayed the same or regressed in his four seasons in the league. 36% from the field, 26% from three? That's not going to cut it for a NBA point guard. You got to at least hit something at a decent clip.

I can't take any play in China seriously. Guys who are near-scrubs in the NBA go over there, get paid millions and score like 25 points a game shooting over people that are shorter than 6'0" tall.

I have been saying here for years before Rubio came to the NBA how over hyped he was, how terrible he was at shooting, how he can't score, etc.

But now you are just outright going into crazy town.

You do realize that in China Americans are only allowed to guard other Americans right? And that they have an unwritten agreement between other that they don't guard each other. They play zero defense against each other all game long, which is why the stats there are so absurd.

So that means he shot 30s against ZERO defense all season. Not exactly impressive.

Terrible offer is terrible.

Terrible offer is terrible.Flip definitely started this convo because he wants to pair Towns and Russell with Wiggins and the others. I think it may make sense to move some of their vets with long-term commitments- some of these guys will be too old once the young talent (hopefully) is ready to start making sustained playoff runs. This isn't a squad that's trying to placate Love by making moves to get to playoffs. Full rebuild mode right now.

Curious what you guys think- what would entice Phil to give up that pick? Rubio, Martin, and Pekovic for Calderon and #4? I wouldn't do that deal (too worried about their injury histories, contracts, and impact), but I honestly think somebody can win a trade with Phil on this lotto pick. I legit think they will try to move it, even post-draft.

Smart move by Flip to try to troll around to get another lotto pick.

Pekovic? WTF? Pekovic is worth way more than a #4 draft pick.

Even with Pekovic being almost a sure fire 18/10 a game man. I would still move him and get the #4 pick... If you want your team to evolve and your prospects to get better.

Not sure who the Wolves would pick at #4 though...?

Assuming the team lines up (with Rubio/Pek shipping out)

Dieng
Towns
Wiggins
KMart(Shabazz?)
LaVine

Who do the Wolves pick? Russell? Mudiay? Maybe WCS? Is/will he be better than Dieng...?
