The good news is that the iPad is getting a bunch of great new features that finally allow you to multitask.

So if you want to use two different apps at the same time, like taking notes while looking at photos, or watching a video while responding to a text message, you don't have to switch between apps.

But the bad news is that the new features may not work on your iPad unless it's one of the newest models.

And Split View, which allows you to use two apps at the same time, and is one of the best new features, only works on the iPad Air 2, Apple's latest iPad, which starts at $499 and was released last fall.

iPad sales were down 23% in the first quarter of this year compared to the same time last year.

tl;dr apples new features such as split screen will be available only for the newer iPad models

Didn't see that coming. Some people did. Being new to the Apple scene that's a stab in the back. Upgrade my iPad 3 retina display 32GB model just for a few features android had years ago? Or Microsoft? Dam. Looks like the only thing I'll be purchasing from them is the iPhones but I'm not sold anymore on iPads.

Apple only mad split screen multitasking available on ipad air 2 because of hardware limitations of older models

ipad air 2 is the only ipad with 2gb of ram
Obviously. But apples software is known to do remarkable tasks fluidly without requiring power. I'm sure iPad 3s could of handled it. This to me was more of a push to increase sales by forcing hands to upgrade.

Enjoy that. Took them long enough to introduce this feature.

Let's be real Apple really became the king of their industry since like the first iPhone came up. I still remember how popular blackberries/sidekicks were in my high school then when the second iPhone came out (I still remember people referring to sidekicks as the "ghetto" blackberry lol), 40% of my class seemingly had one :oldlol:. I don't know anyone who still has a blackberry.

I still had one of those Razr phones up until about 2010

Sidekicks were the shit. The sidekick 09 came out and was a flop. But they lasted up until 09-10. Had one blackberry I don't even think I used it the trackball broke and that was everything.
