View Full Version : Would Bron win more Finals if surrounded by good role players rather than 2 all stars

Seems like it tbh, when he has two all stars around him he gets too passive.

Imagine the team you could build around him if he was the only guy on the team getting the max. You could surround him with great role players, maybe a solid 2nd option that comes cheap as well.

Basically lets say two max teammates of his are making 18M a year each, imagine splitting one of those into two guys making 9M a year and the other into four guys making 4.5 M a year.... seems like a much better way to approach teambuilding when accommodating for LeBron ball since he kinda turns stars into role players anyways

He'd win more finals if he didn't face Gregg Popovich and his Spurs. GS are just choking hard now - they seem to have forgotten how to play some semblence of organised basketball

it's tough when your PG jacks up fifteen 3pters like Curry did last game. You saw it from Klay in the post game pressers, all he wanted to talk about was how they needed to move the ball more. He was probably pissed that he was having a great game and Curry just kept ****ing it up at the end, playing like shit this first half as well.

Sure seems like it.

Pat beverly
Middleton
Lbj
Ryan Andersen
Rudy gobert

Put like a decent spark scorer off the bench like jr smith that's a pretty scary team. Throw in a Scola/ Blache caliber low post scorer and a few more 3 and D guys and that's pretty much the ideal situation for him (though he and Kyrie meshed pretty well).

**** outa here. You really think guys like delly are better than kyrie for a player? You need more than 1 guy who can create a play for others

disagree.

every team he shows up to ends up playing his style of ball, and thats OK as evidenced by 5 finals appearances, I just feel like teams would be better off loading up on good role players and depth rather than guys like Love or Bosh who are just gonna spot up in the corner anyways

Why not just have stars play like role players? Thats what Love was doing later in the season, or Bosh also, and that worked out

Exactly. LeBron had similar teams during his first stint in Cleveland and did not win. Just because he may win in the Finals this year (and won half the ECF) with a similar team, due to injuries, does not mean he is more likely to win with scrubs than Wade/Bosh. He won half the time in Miami. Talent matters more in basketball than in any other sport. What LeBron may be doing in this year's Finals and half the ECF may be unique in basketball history. That will not change the fact that such an achievement is a huge outlier.

I'm just saying why pay Love 20M a year to jack up 3s, crash the boards, and play lousy defense when you could pay Ryan Anderson like 8M a year to do the same thing

Because when lebron sits you can use love to run the offense with kyrie and love can post up unlike ryan and grab boards unlike ryan. I semi agree with this argument but you need at least 1 star with you and a ton of good role guys
