Wade's gotta be somewhere in the arena for LeBron to actually win a finals game

In MJ's '93 run, he faced a Knicks team that was the euivalent of this year's Warriors defensively.

32.2 ppg on a .400 FG% (with 6 rpg and 7 apg.)

And he did so with far more help. In fact, his teammates collectively outshot Mj by a staggering margin.

Kind of puts Lebron's '15 Finals into a better perspective doesn't it?

35.8 ppg, on a .388 FG%, to go along with 12.0 rpg, and 8.3 apg.

Exactly...

This shows far superior the 90's Knicks were to this Warrior team - a far superior supporting cast BARELY beat the Knicks...

Whereas Lebron's far worse supporting cast was beating this Warrior team..

:confusedshrug:

Try again.

Are you out of your mind?

The numbers do not lie my friend.

First in defensive rating for both.

And, if you factor in GS's offensive rating, this is a FAR greater team that what MJ faced in the '93 Knicks.

And yet, Lebron is carrying a band of misfits to a series draw, against an all-time great team.

Warriors have a lower defensive rating than the 90's Knicks

That means nothing, but I'll indulge you.

The 1998 Utah Jazz had a 100.3 playoff defensive rating - this is better than anything Lebron ever faced in the Finals, including this year's Warriors.

Warriors are an all-time great team

What a joke.. In the 1993 Finals between Bulls and Suns, both teams averaged EXACTLY 106.7 PPG... and both teams had EXACTLY a 113.0 ORtg.

So the series was dead even..

So how would Lebron's weaker supporting cast do against those Suns?.. Well, here's what we know: MJ's 41/9/6 and superior supporting cast only got the Bulls even.

Obviously, Lebron's weaker supporting cast would do worse against these Suns, even if Lebron managed to put up the same stats as MJ.

However, Lebron's weaker supporting cast has been BEATING the Warriors, proving the Warriors < Suns and most teams MJ faced (including the Knicks, who ALSO played MJ's superior supporting cast and stats to a standstill).

Comparing the Warriors to the 93' Knicks and the Suns with Barkley is laughable

The Utah Jazz team that MJ faced in two Finals would sweep the Warriors, maybe 4-1 if they shit the bed one game

Put Lebron on the Bulls, even with Pippen and Rodman, he would crumble under the pressure.

This is the first Finals and really the first series Lebron has stepped up and acted like a man for once. Had he played like this his other 5 Finals appearances then maybe you could make a case for him being as good as Jordan

Is the 2015 Finals performance by Lebron unbelievable and up to par with MJ? Yes. But the fact that the Warriors are a soft fragile team and those 90s teams were full of top 20 of all time NBA legends, it evens out to have Pippen and Rodman on your team.

Scoring isn't even Lebron's best trait on offense.

So just the fact that MJ fans have to dig things up like this is almost a compliment to Lebron.

In the 80's, defenders didn't have to guard weakside 3-pointers, so they didn't have to be on the weakside - all defenders remained on the strongside and/or in the paint, and therefore closest to help on strongside action:

http://gifsforum.com/images_new/gif/other/grand/573113292e852dcb8f5fe242c53e3982.gif

Otoh, in today's game, defenders must guard weakside 3-pointers.. To defend weakside 3-pointers, defenders must position themselves behind the far side of the paint on the weakside, therefore leaving the paint wide open while being furthest away to help on strongside action:

http://cdn.makeagif.com/media/6-05-2015/P5Zone.gif

MJ never faced a paint that was wide open with no defenders.. EVER.. This is a fact.

Too bad, because scoring is what allowed him to get a 2-1 lead and sniff some MJ comparisons.

But MJ's on another level because he mastered the "advanced" version of basketball - think of it like a video game where MJ beat the highest level of the game (see previous post for visual explanation):

Beginner Level.................................. Advanced Level (what MJ beat)

open paints......................................... packed paints
no hand-checking................................. hand-checking
hand-off defense.................................. hands-on defense
flagrant fouls....................................... no flagrant fouls
no physicality...................................... physicality
no paint-camping................................. legal paint-camping
less strongside defenders...................... more strongside defenders
(due to spacing/weakside spacing)......... (due to lack of spacing)

:oldlol:

F all of that sh*t. Lebron is not the only one in the league today who gets to play by these rules.

Yet, he is the most dominant by far.

And today's talent pool is larger than it was in 1990.

MJ was the best in 1990 out of a talent pool of x.

Lebron is the best in 2010 of a talent pool of probably 1.25x or something...due to increased popularity of the game (especially in foreign countries).

U mad?

Oh, and no, Lebron does not have this Cleveland team tied 2-2 due to just his scoring. His playmaking has been jus as imporant.
