Even tho he has a sht finals record he went up against a superstacked Boston team regularly and still torched them and had the best losing effort ever in a finals in 69. His finals stats are crazy too only MJ and Shaq have better numbers

The insanely fast pace of the game in Jerry West's era gave teams around 20 to 30% more possessions. More possessions means more shots. More shots means more points, more misses, more rebounds... you get the picture.

Take all of Jerry Wests stats and decrease them by either 20 or 30% and they all of a sudden come back down to reality.

30.5 ppg in the Finals (although he ruined his averages a bit in his last 2 series), all-time leading scorer and 3rd in PPG, most 30 and 40 point games.
Probably top 5 or 6, regardless of having won or not:

Russell
Jordan
Shaq
West
Kareem
Magic

They played at an Insane Pace back then. On average it was 120 Possessions per Game and in 1962 it was 150 Possessions per Game.

Wade's 2006 Finals Numbers would be 45/12/7/4/2 adjusted for Pace(Rough estimate).

If we adjust his numbers for Todays Pace or the 1980s Pace then we can compare him with the other Top Finals Performers.

Look at this bsketball-nerd still thinking everyting is objective like that, still trying to look at bball from a mathematical stand-point after being exposed...

Would've been so hard for a superstar like West to average 20 shots per game, like 25 for the Playoffs, would've been so hard for him to get assists when they hand them out like free cookies nowadays, would've been so hard to go to the line in this physicality-less era, or get them rebounds in a pussified league...

Not even saying his numbers wouldn't dip, they would - as pace in the 60's was CONSIDERABLY higher, different from the late 70's on forward - but dude like him would still have the impact, that's what counts...
Ofc a dude like Wilt wouldn't have been averaging over 20 rebounds per game, nowadays... Still would've led the league at it.

Want me to post many examples of superstars averaging the same or better playing at a slower pace?
Won't even go on about how it's easier to "control" possessions when you're playing at a slower pace.

The NBA is currently averaging 100.6 ppg in the post-season (and 96.1 in the Finals.)

In West's '69 post-season, the NBA averaged 104.5 ppg, and 106.0 ppg in the Finals.

Even if we go strictly by the Finals, West would still have averaged 34.8 ppg in this year's Finals.

And, the current NBA is shooting an eFG% of .487, and in the Finals it is .452, while in West's '69 post-season, the NBA shot an eFG% of .431 (I won't take the time to figure out the '69 Finals eFG%, but I suspect that it was no more than .440.) West shot .469 from the field in the '69 Finals.

West's '69 Finals performance holds up quite well in the current NBA my friend.

Westbrook would put 50/15/25 in that era

No, he would be putting up his same exact numbers that he did against the Warriors in THIS season... 24.0 ppg on a .329 FG%.

Thanks for playing though.

Those aren't very good shooting percentages. 25% FT is atrocious

And on a 30% FG%.

50 FGAs, 15 makes.
