View Full Version : Stephen Curry's FMVP Case

Beyond the pure statistics, and clear impact let's take a breakdown look at why he should be the FMVP.

In the most important game of the season/decade/franchise, against the best player in the world, on the road, fighting momentum he delivered when it mattered.

Warriors were up 57-42 in the beginning stages of the 4th quarter. Neither Curry nor Iggy did especially great throughout the 3rd, or anyone else on the Dubs really for that matter. Cavs took em out back and pounded em on the glass, got to the line, James kept getting fouled, etc and brought themselves, with all the momentum back to 73-70 with 34 seconds left in the 3rd quarter.

-Curry makes a three pointer pointer with 17.9 second left in the 3rd on a ridiculous step back shot over James Jones to end the quarter up 76-70.
-Curry dimes it ahead to Green perfectly for a catch and dunk transition dunk to put them ahead 78-70.
-Curry rebounds it.
-Curry fastbreaks it, gets it to Thompson to put them ahead 80-70.
-Curry running floater, puts them at 82-70.
-Curry three pointer, puts them ahead 85-72.

In those 4 minutes he scores 8 points, and dimes for layups/dunks on the other 4 points and puts his team ahead by 13 in the 4th and out of reach for the Cavs.

Not taking anything away from Iggy, but it is clear why the Warriors won. Their MVP took control of the game when it mattered most. Iggy is playing at the level he always should have been (excellent defender, hitting wide open shots), but in no way does that mean he has been the MVP.

4 minutes in 1 game of a (at least) 298-minute series is normally all the time we need to decide who the best player is

Why don't you talk about the first half. I love Curry, but he's been a no-show for large stretches of games throughout the series. Obviously he's still the best player on the team, but for me, Iggy has been both the most consistent and effective player on our team. It's shocking really.

What FMVP case? It's clearly Iggy through 4.

Curry would still win if he just camped out on the three point line the rest of the series doing nothing.

Curry clearly the FMVP...People not seeing that him getting doubled and getting the defense broken up is actually helping players like Iggy, Green, and Barnes get wide-open shootaround aka practice at 2:00pm type of shots..

Also leading team by alot in ppg and ast....Without Curry, Iggy isn't open with no one within 8ft of him. Also Warriors TEAM defense is doing a fantastic job on LeBron.

great post

Curry was clearly their best player in their 1st win and arguably their best in their second win.

It's Most VALUABLE, not most consistent, what value does your consistency have if your team lost?

If that's the case then Mozgov should be the frontrunner for Cle, he's been the Cavs most consistent by far through 4 games.

BRAWN fans, I hate to break it to yall but the Warriors WILL win the championship and Wardell "the beigeGAWD" Curry WILL win FMVP yall just gon have to deal with it.

He's gonna win it regardless, but NOBODY better use the first three rounds as a barometer to justify it.

Clearly the front-runner after tonight. He doesn't even need to post good #'s in order to still have his imprint all over the game. Look at what his mere presence does to defenses.

Iggy had his stamp all over win #2. Another defensive gem would have him ahead after last night, but it's Curry. By a lot.
