Cleveland Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith told reporters Saturday at Finals media availability that he didn't really think the Golden State Warriors' adjustments in Game 4 had much to do with the outcome.
"Honestly, I don't really think it did much," Smith said. "They got a few cherry picks where we didn't get back on defense. But other than that, they just made shots. Their non-shooters just made shots."

Obviously, it's not that simple. They were doubling Lebron a lot more. One of the main reasons why Lebron didn't control the pace of the game is because the Warriors built a lead, and the Cavs had to play with more urgency.
However, the Warriors were hitting shots that they were missing the past couple of games, and the Cavs were missing shots that they were making. :confusedshrug:

Cavs shot 5-24 on wide open looks. If they were hitting their open shots, it would be an entirely different game.

Pretty sure JR is shooting 25% from the field this series. He needs to shut up about non shooters. lol

The warriors had 48 open looks though..pretty sure I saw. Cavs had something like 29.. so it's not like cavs got more open looks and just weren't hitting.

I think you're missing the point. The game was in reach, especially late in the third, beginning of the 4th. If each Cavs role player hit one of their wide open 3's, it would be a tight, close, grind out game where anything could happen.

It's a make or miss league, but GSW offense did a better job of creating open looks.

Some of that is by design though. They are protecting the paint and denying the ball to Curry/Thompson and allowing Iggy or Green to take wide open looks.
I'm guessing the other open shots were fast break opportunities, which they can't let happen. They can live with Green/Iggy shots beating them, but they need to prevent fastbreaks more than anything.

Delly is so trash. Make your open 3s. He can't dribble so he should at least be able to shoot wide open 3s.

More than 50% of Warriors shots were uncontested in game 4, up from ~30% in the previous 3 games. NBA players are going to hit wide open shots. It was the Cavs defense that let them down.

Which criteria do they use to determine whats an uncontested shot or not? Is a late contest counted as an uncontested shot?
