If so, where does Bron rank after 5 games? I am assuming his attempts will stay at 30+ in game 6 and game 7 (if necessary).

Lebron is at 32.6 right now. MJ was at 33.2 in 1993. Not sure if anyone surpassed that?

Wow, Wade only attempted 23.2 per game in 2006 finals. Of course that number is skewed by his FT attempts but still. 35.4 points on 23.3 shots? Impressive.

Thanks. Bron might break that record with another high usage game or two. Point is, Bron is way up there in his shot attempts.

Have you got his complete series avgs? I'm intsd to see them.

Him, Baylor's '62 series, and one of Jordan's series are the 3 highest ppg series of all-time but I don't recall ever hearing what Barry's other stat avgs were that '67 run

So it's Barry 67, Baylor 62, MJ 93 and Bron 15?

Only MJ's team won. And he still shot almost 51% while the other 3 shot closer to 40%.

What are you grouping these guys for? Finals ppg averages or what?

What about Wilt? He's had to have at least one finals where his attempts were way up there.

Wilt never attempted 30 shots in any of his Finals games actually, he only made one Finals appearances on a team that he averaged more than 30ppg on and even that team (the 1964 Warriors) had a team strategy designed by coach Alex Hannum that had Wilt handing off more averaging about 5 assists per game and 36 points per game on several fewer shot attempts (way down from the prior two seasons of 50 and 45ppg)

Barry 1967 - 39.2
Baylor 1962 - 33.6
MJ 1993 - 33.2
Lebron 2015 - 32.6 (thru 5 games)
AI 2001 - 32.4

I think that's the top 5 right there

Someone should look more into some of Jerry West's appearances, he averaged 39ppg in '69 I think

*EDIT* 28fga pg and 37.9ppg so not quite there with the other guys

Wilt only took 8 shots per game that series. Only Laker to shoot 50% from the field. His fault though right?

I think this is just another of a million reasons why MJ is the GOAT (arguably with KAJ).

He was a high usage player but his PER is the highest ever for both the regular season and playoffs. He also has the highest scoring average in history for both regular season and playoffs. I mean what more can the guy do? Score the most points and have the highest efficiency ever in both the regular season and playoff?

While it's more difficult for guards to be efficient (a guy like MJ should by all means be praised for that), it's also easier for guards to take shots... they bring the ball up the court it's in their hands the entire time. Big men who couldn't get their normal shot attempts per game in the Finals shouldn't be penalized for it.

They anchor teams in other ways guards even of MJ's caliber never could anyways, blocking shots, rebounding, etc

MJ's 1993 Finals: 33.2 FGA, .508%, 8.5 RPG, 6.3 APG, 41.0 PPG.

Funny thing is he only shot .694% from the FT line (5.7/8.2). If he hit his career average of .835%, he would've averaged 42.0+ PPG.
