Michael Malone has reached agreement on a four-year deal to become coach of the Denver Nuggets, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
The fourth year of the deal is a team option, sources said.

Malone made the strongest impression with general manager Tim Connelly and president Josh Kroenke in meetings with Denver’s management and overtook interim coach Melvin Hunt to win the job, sources said.

me too. one thing that malone has going for him that shaw couldnt seem to master, was the support of his players. I dont remember the exact numbers, but before DMC missed 10+ games with that infection, the kings were top 4 (?) in the west. Pretty damn impressive and no one saw that coming. of course, it was mainly due to the team running the ball through cousins on almost every single play. the offense they ran was at a playoff basketball-esque pace. I dont think the nuggs have any players where that pace would behoove them. but his attention to team defense will be appreciated and well as his above average play calling.

I also like it.

The Nuggets are going to have to make some decisive moves if they want to compete in the West, and Malone is a coach who has a pretty clear vision.

He's a little old school though.

I was hoping that Hunt would get the job. As more and more time passed, I figured Melvin was less and less likely to get the position. Initially, i'm not that excited about the hire, but as with all things, only time will tell.


I can say for certain, it beats hiring Pringles.
