View Full Version : So, if Jordan played w/Pippens unconscious body occupying the bench....

And the Bulls won the title, would people on here still say "1-9"? Because apparently all Pippen needs to do is be on the roster to discredit Jordan

Pippen rookie year: averages 20 mpg, doesn't start once. Doesn't even make the all-rookie team. Bulls win 50 games and a playoff series, losing to the mighty Pistons. Jordan averages 45 ppg on 64 ts% against the Cavs, kills them in the deciding game.

Pippen second year: not even a top 20-30 player. They make the ECF, winning 47.

Pippen third year: borderline all star, but not an all-NBA player. They win 55, and make it to the ECF, once more losing to the eventual champion.

.....1-9 doe

Pippen's defense was crucial, even when his offense was cold

Why does 1-9 upset you? Because it shows Jordan was mortal?

Everyone knows he was the GOAT

Because people use it to argue he ISNT the GOAT.

And Jordan not being the GOAT doesn't bother me, I would rate him as such but I think there are several other players worthy of consideration...its just that there are far better arguments one could make than "1-9", which is quite frankly a stupid one. Rookie Pippen didnt even make the all-rookie team. He was barely a net-positive.

And yeah, all one needs to do is examine Jordan's personal life to see just how mortal Jordan was :p

No they really dont. Dont be fooled by people trolling or trying to rustle some jimmies. As it clearly works.

It's very clear alot of Jordan stans are woefully insecure about Pippen

The vast majority are trolls, yes, but some folks on here also use it to form their argument that Jordan couldn't do much without Pippen. Hell ive read pundits using "1-9" to bolster their arguments.

MJ's past opponents got old (Boston, Detroit, Cavs had inured Daugherty etc..) and THEN he was able to dominate AND win.

By basketball writers too?

Yes, most are trolls, but some are flat-out uninformed.

Why does nobody mention that the Jazz got old once Shaq/Kobe won or that the Celtics and Spurs got old once Lebron won?

Exactly. The whole 'team x didn't win until team y and z got old' can be used in numerous situations, but it seems to be the defacto argument, along with 1-9, to discredit MJ. I guess when your career resume looks like this:

Of course 1-9 is dumb as fk, because it's a troll argument perpetuated by trolls on this board. The only legitimate point that it makes is this argument that it's better to lose in the first round than to lose in the finals for one's legacy is dumb as hell. So yeah, 1-9 is dumb, but it's poking fun of people that try to bring up 2/5 as a way to discredit Lebron's career.

He's the GOAT, but he needed Pippen and the media to become that. End of story.

People would not say that in that imaginary scenario.

Just like people would not call a cat a cat if it barks and have appearance like a dog.

The only reason people use the 1-9 argument is because Jordan fans try to perpetuate this myth that he won championships by himself or with minimal.help.

The respense is that if he was that good, why was he so unsuccessful ewrly in his career?
