Discuss.

I say yes. He has made better adjustments and outcoached everyone along the way from the first game of the regular season up through the Finals.

Not many people thought this Warriors team was a true contender going into the season (and definitely not Vegas). They didn't make any big trades, just improved internally and with their style of play.

At this point the only coaches ahead of him are:
1. Phil
2. Pop
3. Red
4. Riley
5. Chuck
6. Rudy
7. Larry
8. Rick
9. Kundla
10. Kerr

As a rookie head coach he took a middle of the pack contender, without any major trades or acquisition (e.g., collusion) and turned them into champs. Went against every All-NBA player along the way and did it in a historically good (reg season at least) Western conference.

I just realized how impressive that is. 67-15 as a rookie, and likely NBA champion.

not really. for the most part, Blatt has out coached him, and if it wasn't for the shortage of players, the Cavs would more than likely beat this GSW team.

Blatt has done a decent job, but honestly he has done nothing spectacular except letting Bron be Bron. They ran through a depleted and weak East and finally met a true team out West and are getting outplayed and outcoached.

Bron is getting exhausted but that is because of both his minutes and the style of play. The minutes are what they are - no one else can be out there instead of him. However, the style of play is just on turrible. Lebron runs around way more than he needs to and dribbles way more than he needs to. Blatt's offense is predicated on energy wasting - not a good coaches move. Kerr would of planted Bron into the post and made him do straight lines to that spot and have cutters etc.

But, can agree to disagree. It's not a completely ridiculous point.

However, the facts of the situation:
1. No generational superstar player
2. Player development
3. Using his assistants
4. Developing both the best offense and defense
5. Going through a historic West (reg season) 67-15
6. Going through every All-NBA player in the playoffs
7. No major trades or acquisitions
8. First year.

Considering there aren't many coaches that have more than 1...this run he has had in his first year basically catapults him into the top 10, or top 20 ever at worse.

David Blatt has a team of guys who never played before unlike Golden State where the team was already in place, lost 2 starters in the playoffs, has rookie assistant coaches as opposed to proven veteran gurus....

At 3-2 im not sure Kerr gets the distinction as top 10 coach ever yet.

Hard to say without measuring his **** size. You know guys like Phil and Red were large and in charge.

Ill try and get some info on Kerr's measurements and get back to you.

Lol he has been drastically out coached this series with a roster full of 7.5 playable players. He has the ghost of James Jones making finals impact again an all time great roster. FOH. Kerr has been outcoached, it took him way to long to adjust when he has tons of adjustments he could have made to get the desired result. He has one of the most versatile rosters ever.

If anything, this series is a black mark on his coaching and a positive for Blatt.

The fact that no one is talking about Blatts defensive scheme says a lot. Especially when a team with such firepower has been help down by a bunch of misfits.

If Kerr wins, he's 1 for 1 in the finals. That's 100%. Phil is not 100% in the finals.

Kerr > Phil

The guy was spoon fed the best list in the NBA.

I don't think so.

I agree he's not top 10 ever by a long shot.

However, this comment...this is pretty much the same roster they had last year that lost in the first round to the Clips and won 51 games. They now have a good chance of winning a title after improving their win total in the bloody Western Conference by 16 games. Let's not act like Kerr had nothing to do with this.

The Warriors were outplayed, out-coached and out-hustled for the first 3 games of the series. Kerr made some changes that gave his team the advantage because Cleveland is only playing 6-7 players. His scheme is to wear down an injury-depleted team.

Cleveland would have already won this if Kyrie was playing. GS is overrated.

IF GS wins, enjoy it but understand Cleveland fully healthy is the better team. Those ghost 4th quarters by Lebron? Kyrie would have pumped in 15 points to keep you at bay. Sort of like what Kobe did with Shaq in the early 00's.

about 20 games into the season I was saying Kerr was coaching at an all-time great level and he's only improved since then.

Y'all left Alex Hannum & Bill Sharman off that list and you need to fix that glaring error but as to main idea.... absolutely

OP, Kerr has done next to nothing to justify anything you said. The team was already assembled when he got there and would have been a top 3-4 NBA team regardless of who's coaching.
