It's out of his character as he said. He'd rather shoot 50% but he has no other choice.

You ever notice the minutes they played in their earlier career? The difference between having Shaq and not?

coming off the bench his 1st 2 years
playing with shaq
as #1 FGA leader of the lakers since 2001
kobes career PPG is 27.9 over 15 years
lebrons is 27.3

If Kobe dribbled the air out of the ball for the first 16 seconds of every single possession his team gets he would not only have more PPG, but also more assists.

kobe got carried by shaq for years.
lebron IS the shaq of his teams, and literally does it all for them. not only does he score more than kobe, hes also a much better passer, better defender, better rebounder, better leader, better clutch player, more durable, and much higher basketball IQ.
its not fair comparing kobe to lebron, because lebron owns him at everything including head to head meetings.

as a second option? sure...
but as a first option they're even, and lebrons career isnt close to over.
by the time its said and done, lbj will have like 6 mvps and 4 fmvps, which absolutely shits on kobe's putrid 1 mvp and 2 fmvps
the statistical difference is also significant. kobe isnt close to lebron, sorry.

Maybe he should have let NJ draft him then. He could have had that green light from his rookie year on, instead of handing out towels during timeouts his first 2 seasons.
all most forgot.....lol @ Kobe being first option after 2000.

Scores more, and loses more too. He's never had a "green light" under Phil, and when he has had a green light (2005/6) and these past few years with the Dantoni, Mike Brown, Byron episodes, he's had nothing but losing efforts with high FG attempts and high points, and LOSSES.
Keep up the rhetoric Kenneth

Yeah lets pretend like Kobe was 1/10th NBA ready as Lebron when they both got drafted
LeBron by his 3rd year was at 31/7/7 leading his team to the second round and making the Cavs competetive and relevant.
Put a 3rd year Kobe in the same situation with the same roster and the Cavs win 25-30 games.
Matter of fact even if he was given the green light , ZERO chance Kobe averages 27 and 31 PPG his 2nd and 3rd season.
You wanna remove years and ignore efficiency? Remove rookie year (1 year not 3) and LeBrons at 27.9 PPG

Too bad Kobe's 2001 and 2002 rings are on par with or better than some l"#1 option" rings.

The finals are part of the playoffs, and you do have to get to the finals before you can win them.

The finals are part of the playoffs, and you do have to get to the finals before you can win them.
So why do Kobe stans like yourself, Kenny and many others always talk about what Kobe accomplished BEFORE the Finals? You know.......the series you have to play in order to win a ring? If the East is/was so piss poor, then why did he play so poorly, on the biggest stage, in the majority of those 7 Finals??

lol @ LBJ being a pass-first player. Dude is currently taking 27 FGA per game in the post-season, and 34 FGA per game in the Finals. Dude was second in the entire league in isolation plays in the reg season despite having Kevin Love and Irving on his team, which is much better offensive talent than what Bryant ever had built around him. He was also #2 among non-points in touches per game, and #1 among all non-points in time of possession. Basically, he was playing a super ball-dominant isolation type of offense even though he had two offensive stars next to him including the best offensive PF in the league. Does that sound like some sort of super unselfish pass-first player to you? :oldlol:

I don't just talk about the Finals, I look at all 4 rounds put together, and Kobe in general is an incredible playoff performer, although not as good in the Finals, but if you break down his Finals, he hasn't been bad either. And you can't just ignore that Kobe was destroying teams like the Spurs and Kings during the first 3peat and even though the gap between Shaq and Kobe was much larger in 2000 than it was in 2001 and 2002, you can't ignore how he stepped up and was the MVP of game 7 vs the Blazers in 2000 or how he stepped up in big moments in the clutch against the Suns and Pacers in the playoffs as well.
