View Full Version : Objectively, how do you rate Bran's performance

I give it a B for the effort on offense, but let's not pretend like he won his matchup decisively or arguably, at all. He wasn't playing any defense half the time, giving wide open looks to Barnes and iffy throughout the series.

T'was A on the first 3 games, he sagged off after.
B to B+ for me

B is fair...maybe B+ just because of how much he willed the team to being so close
but the defensive part i agree with...and I do think he laid off on defense a lot to help keep his energy up. usually you do this on offense as you set plays to your own pace, but he had to be a freight train on offense so he couldn't get it there.

Lebron bought flowers, champagne, lit the candles, and went to work eating out and then fvcking that girl, but in the end, he wasn't able to ***.

He was brilliant in games 1, 3, and 5.
Games 2, 4, and 6, while statistically impressive, left a lot to be desired.
I think Shaq, MJ and Hakeem (off the top of my head) were superior on the big stage.

Do you guys think that the fatigue/physical wear from earlier games in the series carries over to later games? I always thought that 48 hours between games is more than enough time for these super athletes to recover, but it seems that lebron was gassed all of g6 and didn't try that hard... I dont wanna say he quit, but he clearly looked different in g6 than in g1-g3

Played incredible the first few games. Missed shots he should have made over the last few, took it a bit easier and was less assertive too. Turned into a bit of the old LeDefer. Can't fault him too much overall but effort could have been greater the last game.

He was really bad in game 4, and that game decided their fate.
He was still really good. He had great averages but we know why he got those, high usage rate + no one else on the team could create. I watched it most of the season with Westbrook. If Westbrook's team could guard anyone, he would have been the Lebron of the West.

"Solid" B, so very good.
Haters will underrate it, stans will overrate it... as usual.

He gave it his all. That's all you can ask for. At some point balding and ageing catch up to you. At least he didn't go passive for large proportions of games like he used to do in Miami, which as I understand it was the main gripe fans had with him. He went out swinging, albeit on poor efficiency (36ppg on 40%).

B+ because he lost
As someone mentioned above, he was bad in game 4, which was the most important game of the series.

First 3 games A++
Last 3 games B+ to A-
The few short stints on the bench he got, the Warriors dominated...
He did all he possibly could and that's why he was close to winning the FMVP... If it went to 7, regardless of the result he would have won convincingly...

Cut the bullshit already. Yes, he was great in those two years when he won, but thats mostly because Jordan took the vacation. Rest of his career were 6 times first round exit, couple of times swept, once or twice actually missed the playoffs in the middle of his prime. ISH is starting to act like Hakeem is some kind of a big time winner or something smh. :facepalm

A solid C
Misleading stats, horrid offensive efficiency, fell into Kerr's game plan but he tried his hardest.
Kinda sad that we have to rate him on a lower curve because he 'tried' to play hard and give it his all aint it?
Isn't that what EVERY player is supposed to do, let alone the great ones?
If anything this series once again highlighted how poor his game is, how slow he is, how awkward of a jumper he is, how overrated his finishing is, how he lacks stamina, how he can't dribble, how he can't create for others.
I guess I'll be seen as a 'hater' for posting the obvious, so be it.
A better player would've forced Kerr to change his defensive strategy.
And let us not talk about defense. Who was he even guarding? I saw him get beat time and time again, saw him miss rotations, didn't see him get back on defense.
I guess the rating is hard because the opportunity to do a better job was there, but he didn't.
It isn't about how much he did, but how he actually did it.
Maybe next time Bron.

B-
Despite the great 40 point nights with multiple assist and rebounds, I can't forgive the time when he had the chance to win the games and failed.
Game 1: Choose to shot a fadeaway instead of driving into the basket.
Game 6: Multiple turnovers, gave up in the 4th quarter
Not to mention the number of shots it took to get his 40 point performance. Efficiency matters especially when you are down 2 guys. Your shots need to be gold. Yes, he could have played better.

A solid B Lebron shot terrible from the floor was not clutch he lacked stamina towards end of games he had plenty of opprunites to take over in last five minutes but didn't. Great all around numbers but Ivereon like shooting which isn't his game or style with efficiency numbers like that.

1. How do you rate LeBron's performances in the finals compared to Kobe?
2. You mentioned how LeBron lacks stamina. Isn't that sort of unfair since LeBron has been in 5 consecutive NBA Finals? That's A LOT of mileage for someone. What other top 10 player besides Bill Russell has been in 5 consecutive NBA Finals and had to deal with that cumulative mileage? Couldn't that explain issues of fatigue instead of just saying he has stamina issues? If Jordan, Magic, Bird, Kobe, etc had to play in 5 consecutive Finals they would have the same issues with fatigue as well.

There are at least 5 players in today's league who could average more and/or shot better if they took that many shots. So his scoring was not impressive. His defense was bad. He barely guarded anyone, just looked to grab easy rebounds. His assist numbers look good, but with the ball in his hands 99% of the time, that's expected. I still give him credit for his court vision though.
To me it is unacceptable for a player who wants to play on the perimeter not to have a reliable jump shot, at least from the mid-range, and a floater. That's not fatigue. That's just not mastering the art of scoring. You can't just lower your shoulder or push your defender off to create space every single time.
And he quit again in the 4th quarter of the last game and did not show up for the most important game of the season, game 4.
He gets a B- from me.

1.5/6.
I don't recall him showing up in any 4th Q this series. Overall this was the most empty stat performance I've seen since the 2014 finals. No impact whatsoever.

It wore him down, I thought he was trying to conserve energy for the second half, and let his team mates do more in the first....

Only a minus cus he gave up in the 4th quarter....but otherwise the dude played out of this world.....I don't see how people on this board are knocking him...seriously, I mean I am a bit of a lebron hater for his team colluding, holiday taking azzzz but man he brought it....ton of minutes, leading his team, took the shots, rebounded, assisted....
He had some amazing games, he barely got any easy baskets throughout the series...
I gained a lot of respect for Lebron this year's playoffs....

I'd rate it an A- for the effort. He lacked the scoring skillset needed to burn iggy 1on1, he lacked the stamina to go all out on O and D, he lacked the killer mentality that the GOAT had, he gave up down 10 with like 2 minutes remaining when he could've hussled like JR smith. Still, he did play solidly as best he could. :applause:

He could have not played any other way. By playing agressive he gave Cavs a chance. He basically took what the defense gave it to him. The only thing I gave him an A minus was his midrange game need a lot to be desired of and Iggy basically played him straight up.

Good... Not quite great.
Horrible offense and late game play. Speaks to how great he is overall that he could shoot that poorly and still make such a big impact.
But Iggy locked him and because he can't shoot consistently....turned in a really bad offensive performance.
