If Lebron loses in the finals, the FMVP goes to whoever was his primary defender.

He's that good.

Isn't that sad. It's not even like Iggy kept him below his averages or anything, except FG% but thats mainly because the Warriors were the #1 rated defense in the league.

please show me where Lebron got shut down...Iggy made Lebron work harder, and still got through for the most part.

he was shooting horrible FG% since the playoff's started to be honest...nothing Iggy did, and that goes to proof on games 1-3 where his FG% being basically the same for games 4-6

Iggy made his efforts worth rewarding as it was harder overall defense than what green/barnes showed early on, and then the added uptempo Iggy brought to the offensive set for the GSW

Lebron was horrible defensively all series long. It was like he wasn't guarding anyone, just camping around the basket to grab an easy board. I don't care how many RPG he averaged. Tell me one game he affected the outcome with his rebounding. TT's rebounding made a huge difference in almost every game during their entire playoff run. And Mozgov's D. They were the real MVP's of the Cavs.

On the GSW, I think it should have been a tie between Iggy and Curry. Iggy got all those open looks because of Curry, but you gotta give him credit for making them. And he pretty much shut down Lebron and forced him to take tough shots.

^^^ Yea don't take into account that Golden State had the best defense in the league.

Also, didn't the rest of his team shoot something like 36%?

Lebron needed to take more shots to win. The best defense isn't going to let you make more at a higher %. The poor shooting is justified.

if you;re directing that at Kenneth, you're preaching to the choir. he doesn't know how to interpret context like normal, non-delusional folks.

and here's a bit of info to help you Kenneth on the response on shutting lebron down:

@tomhaberstroh: Without LeBron James on the floor this series.
JR Smith 0/9 FG
Delly 0/7 FG
J. Jones 0/3 FG
Shumpert 0/2 FG
Total 0/21 FG

Iggy sure did a hell of a job in shutting Lebron down...praise be to Iggy for making lebron just miss out on atriple double and only holding him to 36/13/9 :applause: :applause: :applause:

Lebron shot 35% when guarded by Iguodala.

The media (especially ESPN) is so in the Lebron business that the only way he can lose is if the guy guarding him had an historic series, and therefore wins the FMVP.

One of the announcers was talking about the FMVP award before the game, and went on and on about how the voters were real basketball people, basically setting up the Lebron loses but still wins the FMVP scenario. You know they wanted to give it to him, and they would have if he had a monster game 6, but Iggy was their plan B.

Since LeBron is considered God, anyone who defends him well gets MVP. You can thank Sportscenter and countless other media sources for why such FMVPs were given.

Warriors were struggling to beat a depleted Cavs team the first 3 games. In fact, they were losing 2-1. Insert Iggy into the lineup. They blow the Cavs out in Cleveland in Game 4. Beats them by 13 in Game 5 and dominated them for 46 minutes out of the 48 in Game 6.

They were able to turn around and dominated the Cavs due to Iggy being in the line up. Curry was also deserving for having the best MVP-caliber stats on the winning team.

For Leonard, he won because of his last 3 games which resulted in all wins and series domination. Duncan was also deserving for being the most consistent.

They didn't put MVP-like stats but it doesn't mean they didnt deserve it.

The only Finals MVP who didn't deserve his in the past 25 years is Paul Pierce. Ray Allen not only had better stats besides PPG(which wasn't a huge gap at all) but Ray also had bigger impact and more critical plays in that series.

We should actually be cheering for more Finals MVP to be like Leonard and Iggy but obviously this is a superstar obsessed league so most fans only want to see superstars winning it just because they post up "superstar" numbers.

I love it!!! This gives more opportunity for defensive-minded players to shine.

Danny Green would've been FMVP if not for Ray Allen a couple years ago.

Iguodala as FMVP is the worst decision I've ever seen following this sport.

The Warriors spent a significant amount of time playing 4 on 3 thanks to Curry. How was he not the most valuable ?

I mean, the Cavs hid Mozgov on Iguodala. You shouldn't be Finals MVP if the other team is hiding their weak link defensively on you. That just doesn't make sense.

yah... and losing your two primary scorers is suppose to help you get better looks? lebron shot the same percentage when iggy didnt even play the first couple games so i wouldnt say he shut him down.

also... 36 on 40% isn't getting shut down.

33 attempts to get 36 points, does that sound Lebron-esque to you?

Going from 50+% to 38%....I think that's pretty close to getting shut down.

Honestly I can understand Kawhi getting it. He's like Bruce Bowen meets Shawn Marion for a team that had no super stars and he kind of turned it on in the second half of the series... But how does the MVP of the season and best player on the Warriors not win Finals MVP? lol... I'm surprised. Iguodala was good no doubt but idk.

Yeah, and also....Leonard's stats and Duncan's stats weren't that far off. Both around 15PPG...Duncan had a 10RPG and more consistent but Kawhi had the bigger impact on the final 3 games(all wins).

Iggy's and Curry's stats were huge gap. Curry still posted MVP-like numbers while being double teamed every single possession.

C'mon, they couldn't at least make it CO-MVPs for Curry and Iggy? I mean curry nailed a couple big shots at the end of Game 6. And the amount of attention he commands is astounding. Iggy got a lot of good looks thanks to Curry. I would've gave it to Curry, he has been the best player throughout the year afterall, and it's not like he shit the bed this game either.

Well Iggy deserved it anyways.
