I don't understand why they don't respect him. The guy is an international superstar coach. The guy is a winner. Nobody on the Cavs are winners. One would think the players would take advantage of his experience.

Are most of those players allowed to have a say at this point? How about working on dribbling and not disappearing before complaining about your head coach? We all know the only opinion that matters is LaBeta's.
And of course it's the LeBron reporter that comes out with this.

He's not the "LeBron reporter." Windy has been completely wrong about everything LeBron and Cavs related for years. He has burned every bridge he ever had.
Last year he was busy telling the world that (1) LeBron wouldn't consider coming back to Cleveland and (2) if he did, we'd have to trade Kyrie because they had a "falling out."
The guy has no clue what he's talking about. He throws sh1t at the wall and hopes a little sticks.

Yeah I remember that, it always striked me as odd that he was so certain considering Lebron himself had said numerous times he still owed the cavs a championship and still planned on making things right later in his career. Windhorst acted like there was zero chance.

Yeah, and he never clarified it. He just acted as though he never said it.
He also said that Kyrie would turn down the max from the Cavs last year, too, and that it was "well known" that KI was unhappy and wanted out. Kyrie signed literally minutes after the moratorium was raised. He was the first guy who re-signed last offseason. Windy fails again.
Windy hasn't broken anything LeBron related since back during his first stint in Cleveland and he hasn't broken anything Cavs related since Grant was fired. That was his "in" with the organization and Windy actually did get information directly from that front office.
Unfortunately for him, it is well known in Cavs circles that he is now despised by the whole organization. In particular, he went out of his way the last couple years to call out Kyrie, who now only gives Windy one-word answers at pressers. It's actually pretty hilarious. :oldlol:
I'm sure this will make him even more popular with the Cavs. Then again, I think they are to the point where they pay him little mind. He embodies everything that is wrong with ESPN.

I only call him that because the only thing I ever hear him talk about is LeBron. 9/10 things he reports are about LeBron. I wouldn't mind him as much if it looked like he did something besides follow LeBron and whatever team he's on, though I partly blame ESPN for that. :rant

He was covering high school girls volleyball games at the Akron Beacon Journal before LeBron came along. Guy was probably making a few dollars over minimum wage, max. Now he likely makes six figures making things up about the Cavs from afar.

I remember hearing some story that maybe someone else has more info on about an english kid who was like 12 and loved football who used to post speculation on twitter. No one took him serious but then he made a fake account as an adult saying he was a journo and had a few predications come true and suddenly he had actual players and journos contacting him and reporting his stories/sending him breaking news stories.
Most of these ESPN reporters jobs could be filled by children, all they do is post a bunch of speculation citing "sources" and then they cross their fingers that one story turns out correct.
It's like Nostradamus, all it takes is 1 out of 100 predictions to come true and people will ignore your mistakes and latch on to the correct one.
Even worse is that with the way they operate today even a hilariously false story will generate clicks and comments from people saying how bad it is which is still generating money for their employers.

he's rude and condescending towards the media.
media blasts him every chance they get because of it.
There is a contingent of cavs beat writers that all hate him.
Jason Llyod after the game 3 win instead of giving credit to Blatt says something like "it was all Lue's doing". Llyod, Vardon, Haynes, all have wrote some pretty nasty stuff about him.

Stays losing.... 4 games to 2... in the Finals... with a rookie coaching staff... and without two All Stars / Olympians and another good big man.
If the Cavs are losing, the rest of the league must be in the dumpster.

My brother's wife served him at a local bar/grill. Said he was extremely friendly and very gracious.
So, yeah... we actually do know people who've had interactions with these guys. He must have been in a bad mood when Euroleague was pestering him about Spanoulis. I don't blame him.

Probably not. Unless he loses next year and the team is healthy. Cavs GM has the rookie and injury card to play. Both very valid.

If it is true -- and Stein did in fact submit a story backing Windhorst -- then the problem is with LeBron, not Blatt. But, I suspect, much like Windhorst Stein is playing junior psychologist from afar. To me, that is an unfair way to assess interpersonal relationships.
At the end of the day, these guys are just watching the Cavs' sidelines in the hopes -- it seems -- of finding something juicy to write about. That is the ESPN way and until I hear something substantial from someone I actually trust, I'm going to call it yet another instance of sensationalist and shoddy sports journalism.
The ridiculous improvement in the defense as the year went along and the defensive gameplanning all playoffs long was a testament to Blatt's talent. He is the one who plead with the Cavs organization to do whatever it took to bring in Timofey Mozgov and that trade turned our season around.
If LeBron can't get behind this guy, I question who he can identify with and/or respect as a head coach. That person may not exist.
Windhorst is playing both sides though.
Blatt stays: Lebron likes someone to kick around
Blatt leaves: Lebron hates him
What I suspect happens is Griffin keeps him and nobody says anything whether they like him or not.
Also I keep hearing about Tyron Lue. So if there is a coup it looks like he would take over.

One thing we know for sure... if Griffin or anyone in the organization does "say something," it won't be to Windhorst's fatass.
My question is how long will it take before everyone -- not just Cavs fans -- realize Windhorst has no inside information here and never will again? Obviously his co-workers and bosses are still being fooled. Or they're just playing along, which wouldn't surprise me. ESPN is that pathetic.
