there have been increasing provocations from Russia with most european countries, including the US. they've regularly crossed into air space, done fly by's in close proximity to our ships/planes, and overall just really throwing their weight around.
now it seems the US are finally sending some messages back to these assholes. we're doing military exercises with europe and positioning our ships in areas that send a clear message.
of course it doesn't help that we're also at odds with China and them expanding their territory into neighboring azn disputed territories.
still tho, europe + US > china + Russia. right? :confusedshrug:
tbh i'm surprised Obama Admin has the balls to even stand up for ourselves at all.
how should we handle Russia/China right now? :confusedshrug:

Russia is nothing. We should laugh at them. They still have a cold war mentality. China is smarter. They have come to terms with knowing they can't match the US through military means. They are trying to compete via economic means and through hacking to gather information. They are a more worthy adversary at this point.

well i just don't think we should let the weak fukk with us like that. we're just way too nice. imagine if Russia were in our position, much less any arab country. if they dominated the world militarily and weaker countries tried this stuff on them they'd be put into their place quick.
economic warfare is fairer game, but even then China are some of the biggest cheaters where there should be some retribution to their underhanded ways to prosper.

They are amateurs compared to the Chinese hackers. It's that cold war mentality. Russia is still primarily HUMINT.

Remember Putin badly wants to put Russia back on an equal footing with the USA as a world power. Why give a paper bear the time of day? Remember you have to look behind the yelling to see what the bully can do and right now they can't do anything. Economy is in shambles. Military is barely above incompetents and they are reduced to half-ass pushing around Ukraine. Pathetic for a supposed world power.

Not a lot, but some. The vast majority of it originates in China.

Russia poses no military threat whatsoever to the US provided it refrains from rampaging around the world, funding jihadists and neo-nazis, plugging them with weaponry, and sending them off against people they don't like (they've been doing this for 40+ years now and still haven't learnt a lesson from it).
The US has been heavily interfering in Russian affairs ever since the collapse of the USSR, and all this really is, is Putin calling an end to such a period of Russian subservience. I recommend not antagonising large powers around the world when America is so clearly on the decline, unless you want to end up living in an autocratic military super-state that you need for protection (because most of the world is pissed at America, fed up of their bullshit, their spreading inflation around the globe to maintain insane levels of unproductive consumer debt-fuelled spending). Putin recognises American vulnerability and is taking the opportunity to kick them out of that part of the world. None of the BRIC nations were willing to condemn Russia over Ukraine, and the US doesn't have the resources to be taking on the whole world anymore.
That you think Russia is the one '****ing with us' shows how warped your tiny community and security worshipping brain is (typical autocratic Chinese mentality: faith in the state and its rightness, willingness to liquidate impediments to the community; takes attitudes like 'only criminals have anything to fear' to constitution-wrecking government programs like the recent NSA spying; always on the side of authority, of the state, the police or the military; you are a subservient clown. Your rather pathetic mentality is born of a complete negation of the will, a hatred and fear of the free life, and a longing to return to the bosom of the mother, and to sit securely under the aegis of the father (the mighty state). It is the logical consequence of a kind of decadent Buddhism. Time to throw the values of your homeland into the dustbin and actually try to understand what is important to America and Americans, because right now, you're utterly clueless.
You seem to be unaware that the CIA has been funding Islamist insurgencies based in Azerbaijan for decades in attempts to destabilize Russia and keep her weak (literally shifted right after the Afghan-Soviet war, to using the same Al-Qaeda, Taliban and Al-Qaeda affiliated operatives, against Russia). Think for a minute America's response is Russians had been seen funding and arming the Mexican cartels to commit atrocities in the United States, and if one of these had resulted in the massacre of hundreds of American schoolchildren. Think about things from that perspective for a second, and you might have a slight semblance of understanding of what attitude Russians have regarding America, and who's been 'fukkin wit' who for the past two decades.

Yeah I'm not that worked up over Russian posturing. Putin doesn't want the US dictating affairs in that part of the world and frankly I'm okay with that since most Americans don't really know anything about Russian/Ukranian affairs beyond what our insanely biased media tells us anyway. Russia poses approximately zero military threat to us or Europe at large, so let him bluster and stomp his feet.
Same for China's activities in the South China Sea; if Asia has a problem with territorial disputes, Asia should handle it.

honestly i don't have a problem with most of your pro Russia opinions but when u talk about media brainwashing, you honestly can't pretend you're being sane. its like comparing Fox news to maybe CNN...the former is practically blatant fictional reporting.
lets be real. Russian nationalists are the most brainwashed by media citizens on the planet considering how much of a stranglehold Putin has on Russian media, and how often he's lied about anything to do with Ukraine separatests or the Malaysian flights.
i mean there really is no government stranglehold over western media like there is with the Russian government over theirs. and its not even close...i believe they just put in new laws how all Non Governmental Organizations are held accountable to the government in what they report now.
its ridiculous to pretend we're so brainwashed or misled in America or Europe, coming from someone pro Russian :facepalm

I wouldn't say we're brainwashed or misled, but very little of what comes from the American media is the entire truth regardless of what they're talking about. And its not the government that strangles our media...its the corporate interests that OWN all of the media that do it. Everything is filtered: textbooks, movies, magazines, newspapers, cable news, blogs...all of it is filtered so that we only get what they want us to get. That's all. Its a lot more subtle than the direct control the Russian state has over its own media, but its no less pervasive.
And I'm not pro-Russian at all, actually. I just don't care how much Putin or his legions of Russian nationalists bluster and bloviate...they're not a credible military threat. Much like it was on the streets I grew up on, I don't care if some guy I know isn't going to throw a punch is talking shit. Dudes like that just aren't worth my response. I keep moving.
So let him screw with his neighbors and bark like the big dog he wants to be...its not incumbent on us to take offense to it and bark back. That's what he wants us to do. I don't jump to Vlad Putin's commands and neither should you. Meanwhile, if there's one thing to be learned from the American experience of screwing with your weaker neighbors...eventually, they get tired of it and you end up with your ass chapped. You'd think Russia would have learned that from its own Afghan experience. Guess not.

We've got about 500ish more warheads active and deployed, mostly thanks to our superior SLBM capabilities; our subs have made generational leaps in the years since the Cold War that Russia just hasn't made yet. In terms of first strike capabilities, the US wins hands down.
Either way, both countries have enough active warheads to annihilate the world ten times over.

Russians have some of the best computer scientists/programmers (Sergey Brin, Petr, intellij, Kaspersky, etc.). That said the smarter you are in Russia, the less you care for your government. The backwardness kind of drives intellectuals away, whereas smart Chinese are more likely to find their government more tolerable and effective despite its flaws.
