View Full Version : 2015 Opinionated Facts from a Cavs Fan

From the LAND:

1) For a large majority of the series, the Cavs played harder. I felt, up 2-1, that most basketball fans who appreciate effort would have wanted them to win the series.
2) Steph Curry is the scariest/craziest shooter I have seen in 49 years. The "throws" are not throws; they are practiced, orchestrated throws that go dead center. He is amazing.
3) If I was a Warriors fan, I could care less who I beat and how I won the title. They are forever the Champions of 2015. That being said - on talent alone - there would be a little embarrassment that this series was this close. I cannot believe how close the games were in Golden State - especially.
4) With a full roster that includes Love and Kyrie, this series is 4-2 Cleveland - easily.
5) Cavs gearing up for huge run at multiple, consecutive trips to the Finals. If this team stays intact, they win their first title next year.
6) Draymond Green's mom and Grandma need to tell him to shut up more often. He went from an embarrassing, overhyped player to someone who helped them win. He's not elite enough to bitch like he does.
7) Names which will be associated with Cavs in some way during this off-season: Dwayne Wade, Marc Gasol, LaMarcus Aldridge. Obviously not all of them - but one of them. Not saying they will come...but their names will surface.

I dont think its possible to add any of those stars, because of our cap situation

Actually it is possible, but Love would have to opt out and leave. I don't think that will happen.

At this point we need to try to retain Shumpert, Thompson, Love, (I want to keep J.R.), get Varejao healthy. I'd like to keep James Jones, he played well and showed good effort and is a great veteran on the bench. Mike Miller I really don't care about, Shawn Marion I really don't care about.

Use our MLE on a quality player, draft a good wing player in the draft (perhaps a good 3&D guy if available?), and trade Haywood's contract for 1-2 good role players.

If we can retain our core from this season, the Cavs cane become even better.

Rightnow...

Mozgov/Varejao
Love/Thompson
LeBron/Jones
Shumpert/J.R.
Irving/Delly

MLE
Haywood's $10 Million Contract
#24 Pick

I've been looking over the scouting reports and picks the last few days.

Some decent guards around that spot that caught my eye...

PG - Terry Rozier (http://www.nbadraft.net/players/terry-rozier) out of Louisville: https://youtu.be/DBCnuTTaRp0

A decent size PG at 6'2", but has almost a 6'7" wingspan. Gives good effort on defense, is quick and atheletic, struggles from mid-range, but shot the long ball at an impressive 37% clip in college. Can play the SG spot in small stretches because of his quickness, athletic ability and wingspan.

PG/SG - Delon Wright of Utah

A big PG who can play SG. He uses his size well against shorter PGs. His an above average athlete with decent defense, but struggles from three and will have to extend his range. Plays under control and doesn't take many risks.

When will Cavs fans realize that adding Love and Kyrie comes with negatives too?

They are both huge downgrades from their replacements, defensively.

Also those replacements are huge downgrades offensively from Love and Irving as well. Love and irving combine for almost 40 points a game during the season and they missed that in the Finals. I think Curry outscored Delly 6 points to 60+ points over the last two games. I don't care how good you are defensively, while I love Delly, if he's not getting/making open catch and shoot three points he's pretty close to a liability on offense. Thompson isn't great offensively either. He makes most of his points on his jump left put up, offensive rebounds and lobs. Just becuase Love and Irving are coming back doesn't mean Thompson and Delly don't still play important rolls. You have to have a balance.

I suspect that Cavs might look to upgrade the backup PG spot though. Either through the draft, the MLE or Haywood's contract.

All mock drafts have us picking different players. I kind of like Terry Rozier personally. Born in Cleveland, sophomore, 6'7" wingspan. Good athelete, good defense, can hit the three.

It's not like the Mozgov/Love/LBJ/JR/Kyrie lineup was bad on defense at all. They were 2 pts worse per 100 possessions than the Warriors starting 5.

While i think he did, people will point to the fact we lost the game. He had an awesome block on him.

Cavs won't resign everyone. Someone will overpay for Shumpert, Delly, JR Smith, or Thompson.
