Besides the obvious fact that it's a team result, the biggest problem with Finals W-L records for players is the ridiculous lack of context. You're telling me the following players should get the same exact credit for their performances in the following Finals
Kareem 1971: 27/19/3
Kareem 1988: 13/4/1
Duncan 2003: 24/17/5
Duncan 2014: 15/10/2
Shaq 2000: 38/17/2
Shaq 2006: 14/10/3
Kobe 2009: 32/6/7
Kobe 2000: 16/5/4
To anyone not trolling, those all really deserve equal billing? You're going to give Kareem the same credit as a 4th option in '88 that you would when he was the MVP of the league in '71? Same goes for Finals losses. Should LeBron honestly get equal blame for this loss as he does for the 2011 Finals?

you're right instead of going by finals wins and losses we should just go by championship divided by seasons played.
LeBron - 2/12 = 0.16
Kobe - 5/19 = 0.26
MJ - 6/15 = 0.4
as always MJ = GOAT
if you want to add some of your "context" it should be noted that Kobe has been injured the past three seasons where none of the others had serious injuries in their careers. so if you take that into consideration and give Kobe a pass it turns into 5/16 = 0.31 which is very respectable.

Well by your method Russell would be clear GOAT at 11/13
And I don't see how Kobe being injured the past 3 seasons is that relevant. I honestly don't think the Lakers even make the playoffs the past two seasons if he's healthy

Too much logic not enough trolling. Of course!each championship should be weighed differently but it's more fun to just post 2/6

Kobe was purposely injured by Jalen in 2000 and that's the only reason his averages are that low, but alas excuses for everyone but Kobe I bet.
