It seems to make a difference to me whether it is a lighter or darker colour: i can distinguish the shades of darker colours right away, but struggled with the garish red and green ones, which just seemed to irritate my eyes more than anything.

It means you are a sensitive soul DCL.

Yah, as i said earlier, i found the bright colours harder (pink & red in particular i think), but others, that came after, i saw straight away.

The grey, for example, was always easily and instantly recognisable.

Lucky for you then that a laptop can be plonked right in front of your nose. It's obviously not an eyesight test in terms of how far and accurately you can see things - you go to the opticians for one of those, and hopefully have some glasses for it.

It measures how good your eyes (or brain) is at recognising increasingly minute gradations of colour, which probably says something about how you perceive the world around you (richly or dully, more or less colour variation).
